This rifle -- Vulcan Tactic .22 caliber -- never ceases to amaze me.

The following 5 shot group was made at a distance of 50 meters:

Will she hold out up to 100 yards?

Mr. concentrado,

it occurs to me that you are not very impressed with the performance of my Vulcan Tactic .22 caliber -- 31 fpe -- air rifle at 50 meters.

Would you kindly post results of your own air rifles; results that you find impressive.

I anxiously await your posts showing your "awesome" results, just to get some idea of what I should expect from my own air rifles.

Fair enough.

Please don't misinterpret my response. I got into air gunning about 3 years ago. I am learning more about the capability of these guns daily. And I would seriously like to know what is to be expected from a 31fpe, ..22 caliber air rifle.

My post of the above 5 shot group is an indication that I found that group -- .190 -.22 of an inch impressive. Apparently, by the standards of more experienced air gunners, that 50 yard performance is rather mundane. I simply would like to see photos of what is considered exceptional shooting for non-competitive air gunners.

I didn't take his question that way. I also like to know what a 100yds is like. however I shoot Impact 25. it just so happens most of my varmint activity will be +- 20yds @ 100.

just the way critters are around my area.

I would never attempt to take any varmint at 100 yards with a .22 caliber, 31 fpe airgun.

I do not have that level of confidence in my marksmanship.

Methinks thou dost read too much between the lines of my question. I have no doubt that the group you posted was an exceptional group for 50 yards with a .22 … no doubt whatsoever … anyone … and I mean anyone would be happy with that performance. I have test shots that came back from an accuracy job that Ernest Rowe did on my Wildcat .25 that were not as close as your group nor were they from that distance so please don't take things the wrong way. No one here is an expert except the guys that make money in competitions and I have my doubts about some of them … but that is neither here nor there. I asked the question about 100 yards because I was so impressed with your group that I was wondering how well that level of accuracy would hold up the further out you go. Yeah, I know that a .22 can not buck the wind like a larger caliber, but on a calm day they can give a .25 a run for the money. In my opinion, a .22 that can be stabilized enough hold true out to 100 yards and print a 1.5" group or less is something to be treasured.

Nobody is insulting your marksmanship here, rather we are just asking questions primarily about the gun … hope you are taking it that way.

John

It is an awesome rifle. I purchased a used Vulcan Tactic .25 in 2017 from a member of this forum and was blown away by the accuracy and quality. It was my first high end air rifle after a Marauder (sold), Talon, and Gladius (sold). They don't get much press as they have been around for awhile and nobody has problems with them. A few other members of our local airgun group have them and we all agree that they are consistently the most accurate long range shooters. I haven't had anything done to mine and I don't sort pellets. Here is a picture from a camping trip I took in May. Distance was 104 Yards (measured with a range finder) shooting off a Caldwell fieldpod. I also shot my Wildcat that day and had another target set up at 70 yards.

Another day shooting ground squirrels:

@2manyairgunz, that 50 meter group is amazing, and as good as it gets. Anyone tells you otherwise is delusional, but I don't think that was what was implied when asked about 100 yards. .22 cal. air guns can be accurate and take small game (rabbits and ground squirrels) out to over 100 yards in calm conditions, or if the wind is in a favorable direction. I routinely take ground squirrels at 90 to 115 yards with my Cricket mini Carbine shooting approx. 30 FPE. FYI, the BC I get for the .22 JSB Exact Heavy 18.1s out of my Cricket is actually slightly better than I get from the .25 JSB Kings in my .25 EDgun R5M

PS., anytime you decide to sell that Vulcan Tactic .22 let me know...

;).

Hey man, I'm good with that.

I can be cantankerous at times, depending on what other issues I'm dealing with at the time.

My sincerest apologies to Mr. Concentrado (a PM appears to be in order) and any others whom I have offended.
