Vulcan Tactical 25 Cal, Day One

AdamahAwesome looking gun and if I didnt already own a Vulcan BP I'd probably order one. I really like the lines and other than the butt they did a really good job on the stock. If its anything like my BP then just keep the cocking handle lightly lubed for about 300 rounds while it laps itself in then clean it and lube with Krytox moly grease. It'll be as smooth as glass.

ADAMAH, which Krytox moly grease specifically are you referring to?

"amoxom"How heavy is this rifle? I have heard it is quite a handful, but there are a few weights being talked about. I have heard it is 7.5Ib's on TGAG site, you say it is 6.5Ibs, and I also heard it was 9.5Ib's on one review. Is there a definitive answer on the un scoped weight? If it is 9.5 unscoped, that might be the deal breaker for me.

I weighed mine by first weighing myself on my wife's WW digital strain gauge scale and then again holding my Hawke SW topped Tactic. I'm not sure how accurate the scale is but it came out to 10.4# for the scoped gun. I don't walk the woods with it that weight is ok with me.

"BaskerX"Hi guys!

Finally i received my rifle from talontunes. All its good for now, except for the cocking system because its extremly hard to use. I changed the side lever from left to right and its more hard than the left side!. Some recomendations from the experts?.

thanks
I've put 3000 pellets thru mine and it has gotten a little better but nowhere close to what I think it should be (for the price!) So I emailed Evgeny at Airgun Technology and his reply...
"Pellet immediately gets on the rifling in the barrel.Unfortunately, this design feature.BREvgeny"

My only complaint about the gun!

I did that you mentioned but nothing changed. I test putting some pellets manually and then the cocking action it was smooth. The problem seems to be the forward phase. Maybe the forward spring was too strong or maybe the problem was the magazines?...the pellet probe seems to be aligned...about the grouping its no so good, maybe te pellets enter to the chamber in a wrong position as well...i will test some shoots without magazines.

thanks again

So you started the pellet into the rifling THEN it closes just fine. ?

"“Pellet immediately gets on the rifling in the barrel.Unfortunately, this design feature.BREvgeny”"
Seems to be correct based on your hand seating the pellet.
Perhaps he uses no ( or almost no) lead which certainly would increase restistance needed to incert pellet-close loading bolt- just like on a springer with little/no lead that makes your finger hurt pretty fast seating pellets.
IF a person could cut a lead correctly that should make it butter smooth, and if you mess that process up you would then need a , new barrel, cut & rework from rear, or ?

Pull the barrel & look, maybe try hand loading. Seems to me the maker did i.d. the "problem" ( only seems a real problem to me if it takes TOO much pressure.

"amoxom"So 10.4Ib's minus 1.625Ib's for a Hawke 6.5-20x42 Sidewinder = 8.775Ib's unscoped. Rings might add to it, so 8.5Ib's unscoped
.So it's up there, but not outrageous.
There will be some variation with all Airguns so the stated weight should be assumed to be the average. There will be slightly more variation with wood stocks as density varies a little.

On top of that, some manufacturers state innacurate info. The stated weight for the Cricket 25 is wrong on every website including Kalibrgun's and almost every online retailer. It's over a pound and half wrong on most so the only info I trust on air rifle weight is from other users who have weighed their one with digital scales.

You can usually assume that weight info is innacurate if they do things like state the same weight for all calibers or state a difference that seems impossible.

I'm curious to know if it is still quieter than your Cricket 25?

For some reason I will never understand, the first few shots with a new air rifle always sound quieter than every shot after that. Does anyone else find that?

I knew the gen 4 Vulcans had an improved shroud but the bullpup 25 I heard was a good bit louder than my Cricket. It's the main thing that put me off the Vulcan. It might be worth another look if this is fixed on the tactic.

Are you comparing them with equal power? I have never thought my Cricket 25 was particularly quiet but it definitely gets louder once it gets above 48fpe or If I use JSB 25gr pellets. Not sure why but JSB 25s come out super loud in mine.
