Vulcan .25 Makeover.

I know some will say why do this to such a nice piece of wood, but I just couldn't take it. I've been working on this stock for 2 days and finally after sanding and numerous coats of paint and clear she's done. I mounted a Hawke HD 3x9x40 from a FFP 30mm tube, and man I love the way she handles. I also added some let over carbon fiber vinyl wrap for the look. I've got a few items to add to make official for night stalking.

I know..I know...different strokes for different folks, but why do people think carbon stick on tape is so cool..it's just tape, kind of like a band-aid covering a booboo, or lipstick on a pit bull....

I know some of you guys really like the look..I just can't stand putting tape on a gun...

OK rant over....black stock is fine I hope the paint holds up well to abuse.

Well of course there is the long process of sanding the entire stock stippling included. I used medium to fine 320 grit sand paper and pad. My original plan was to stain it with a ebony finish but it didn't turn out so good. In order to do that you get everything down to natural wood color and I don't have the skill, tools or the patience for that. I got the ideal of the paint from someone on another forum and the paint I found is by rustoleum and it's a textured paint. Label says wood, metal and other surfaces. I just took my time and evenly sprayed and applied multiple coats, not thick ones just even. After about 3 coats I attempted a satin clear but didn't like the look, so I applied 2 more coats of paint and let her dry. The feel is kinda gritty almost like fine sand paper, I myself like the feel. Here is a pic of the paint. Hope this helps.

Lipstick on a pitbull...lol. I get it I started doing this after I scratch the finish on some shrouds before. So it's act as a barrier of protection as well. I still laughing at that one.

Aircrazy you definitely have the right name I think you are crazy painting the walnut stock over with black paint. I can't even make myself to put a rail on mine yet. I have to find out if we can get black synthetic stocks for this puppy then will swap stocks. My cricket is black synthetic and like it but can't paint over this one. No way. sorry pal
