Vulcan 2 .25 Goodness....

I admittedly go through airguns like a bad habit... the nice thing about this forum and the community in general is it allows you to buy an airgun (either new or used), enjoy it until you want to move on, and sell it. Some guns have better resale than others.... I digress.

To the topic at hand.... last summer I bought a Vulcan 2 .25 cal to compliment a .25 Taipan Vet I owned. The Taipan was an absolute tack driver and my original intention was to up tune the Vulcan to shoot the heavy .25 MKII pellets at 900+ for hunting. After around a thousand pellets or so I began to have slight reg creep and reg stability issues. I added a Huma reg and the stability came right back and the overall performance improved greatly. I played around with the reg pressure in the Huma and never quite got the MKII’s to fly like I wanted when they were pushed past 900. I de-tuned the Vulcan to shoot the MKIIs at around 830 and had one hole accuracy at 35 yards for 40 shots on the reg. I took a few shots at game out past 100 yards with great results but never actually shot a group at distance to see how it performed. Long story short, I had favorable conditions after the rain last week and stretched it out to 96 yards. The results were exceptional. I shot four 10-shot groups, magazine fed, from a bipod and rear bag. Every group was under 1 MOA center to center. The best group shown below had 9 of the 10 pellets in .664”, with a flyer stretching it to just over 1”. Each group was similar with one or two flyers to enlarge the group. These were unsorted, fresh from the tin JSB .25 MKII pellets flying at 830 FPS. Pretty impressive in my opinion. With how consistent the rifle is, I can conclude the pellets and the shooter is the limiting factor here. Cheers!!

Maybe it can get better, but I don’t know how! That’s 10 shots at 50 yards

That gun is Fantastic!

But lets not forget that it takes a human to shoot it.I'd like to give credit where credit is due…

OUTSTANDING SHOOTING!!

You said it best. That is incredible shooting at 100 yards. Also, the 50 yard shooting group was excellent as well! Have total respect for this type of accuracy and skill! Way to go.

Hoping when my RAW .25 HM1000X arrives, I can some day get groups like that!

I had a Vulcan Tactic back in the day when they first came out and I regretted selling it. It was also phenomenally accurate and easy to shoot. The Vulcan is a great platform, it seems like it has the beans to produce some serious power with slugs or heavies but I’m so happy with how it shoots now, I’ll just leave it where it’s at.

Depending on the weather, I am going to try and stretch it out to 150 or 200 yards in the next couple weeks. Cheers fellas!
