Vortex Viper 6.5-20×44, just picked one up but.....

If all your shots are 50 yards and over you have your answer. If not, shots closer in might or might not be a problem. For myself I want 10 yards as my minimum paralex setting. With my Aztec Emerald 5.5x25 I’ve shot rats as close as 10 yards and pigeons as far as 73 yards. So a close in paralex can be important depending on what you are doing with your rig.

I used to do a lot of squirrel hunting with a similar scope, a Leupold 6.5-20X, before scopes were generally available with close focus ability. I found it a problem, and I was constantly powering way down in order to get a decent focus on close targets. You can make it work, but I think you would be much more satisfied with one of many currently available scopes with extended focus ranges. One of my personal favorites is the Sightron S-TAC, a 4-20X with 10 yard parallax minimum. But, it all depends on your use, and you mentioned a 50 yard zero, so maybe your need is for a 50 yard target scope, in which case it should be fine. Most of my air rifle shooting is at closer targets, and 45-50 yards is about my maximum.

The new Vortex Diamond Back Tactical is a new hot ticket. I put one on my Wildcat and love it. Vortex sold 20,000 the day it released and sold out. I ordered four for the next run and they came to me Tuesday. I will mount one on my Crown this week and shift others around on others. You do have to like FFP and a Christmas tree reticle. You can check out Cyclops video on it he loves it. By the way I used the Viper on the Crown and it worked well. But most of the squirrels I shot are past 50 yards.

Good luck!
