Vortex 2.5-10X32?

I have seen airguns with these scopes on them. For those that use this scope, how do you like them?

They are listed with a minimum parallax setting of 35yds. Do they actually adjust closer than the specified distance?

Currently, I have an SWFA 3-15X42 FFP. It is a fantastic scope. I am trying to find a scope of comparable quality but noticeably lighter, even if I have to go to a 1" tube or less magnification. I still want to be able to shoot pests off my feeder at 15yds though.

Im in a similar position as you.

I have searched everywhere and decided upon;

Nikko Stirling Diamond 30mm 1-4x24 Wide Angle Red Illuminated no4 Dot Reticle Rifle Scope.

Users tell me they will focus at less than 4 yards, clear sighting against shade or woodshed.

Plus manufacturers Lifetime Warrantee for the original purchaser and certified suitable for airguns.

The scope I am looking for is goiung on a Red Wolf, so while I am willing to give up some magnification, I don't want to go quite so low.

MP44,

for my own shopping I made a comparison table of SHORT/LIGHT SCOPES -- and 3-12x and 3-9x SCOPES.

My requirements were a little different than yours, and many of the 38 scopes are less expensive than your SWFA. However, there is a colum that lists weight and OAL for each scope to see with one quick look what's out there.

The table includes the new compact scopes from Hawke and Discovery, and also warranty info, turrets and reticle info, FoV, and max. elevation adjustment range, IR or not, etc.

Requirements to make the list were: •Side parallax | •10y min. parallax | •Exposed turrets | •Mostly under $500

Hope this helps some. Happy shopping! 😄

I have the Gen 1 and 2 , The Gen 1 is PX'd down to 30 yards and the Gen 2 goes down to about 18 yards with my eyes . I use both for HFT and both work really well. The Gen 1 is lovely with a thinner RET than the Gen2 , Some like it more , some less , I really like both scopes to be honest and the glass is outstanding .

In your opinion, how well would the GEN 1 work for shooting pest off a feeder at 18yds?

My aiming point on rats is the eye and all that have attended my feeder have all been eliminated, no misses and just one twitcher. I am expecting an illuminated reticle will help me in low light against the dark background of my barn.

At present Im using a late '70's Japanese made 4x30 scope with a single post (pointed) reticle and horizontal hair, this scope was on my deer rifle for 15years and served me well without the need for illumination or magnification. I have now fitted it to my Walther .177 LGU springer and using 0,48gm flat heads I can put shot upon shot at 18yards from a standing rest.

However I am concerned my old scope might not stand up to regular use on a spinger, even though it has so far.

I picked up one of these for around $270 new from Optics Planet on eBay and it’s great: Lightweight, good glass, close-range parallax. Sounds like it’s in the ballpark of what you’re looking for.

Thanks for the input. I would like a fast-focus eyepiece and multi-point reticle like the SWFA has.

If the Leupold had those two features I would own several. Same with the Clearidge Ultra.
