I saw this, Virginia law for hunting birds and animals. Permited firearms include air rifles, no mention of calibre on this page.

Minimum .357 for deer , No airguns for Bear or Elk . Everything else is wide open . I hear they are considering allowing airbolts too . Picking up a .45 Texan SS for deer season this year myself .
