Yep, you're right, it's not really too mobile.

Though, I do know of another air gunner who takes his rig to the range with him. He "tethers" his air rifle with the regulator to his air tank for consistency of air pressure in the air rifle. When he sets the regulator, say at 3000 psi, that's where the pressure stays for as long as the tank is over 3000, but not me. I don't venture far from my garage, being handicapped as I am in a wheelchair (right leg amputee, above the knee) so it suits me just fine.

I have a basement range (20 yards) and I use my scuba tanks, cascade for gun fills. The scuba tanks are pretty heavy in comparison to scba tank so they work great for basement shooting and a regulator like yours would work well . 

My scuba tanks are 3442 psi and 2 of the marauders i shoot at 2500 and 2400 psi so the scuba tanks would do well with a regulator. The 25 Cal I shoot at 2900 psi and usually fill wth the scba.

I have the daystate compressor so air is no longer an issue. 

I also use the scba for outside shooting. I think I've seen,on you tube, tethering w/o the regulator. Seems risky. 

Your regulator does take a major variable of air pressure out of the equation and safely provides consistency.

My setup would be perfect for your basement shooting. Tethering, without a regulator does seem awful risky, I wouldn't try it.

I got my regulator from Joe Brancato of airtanksforsale.com. I saw him on YouTube speak about using the regulator the way I do, so I called him up - he's the source of all my "air" needs. The regulator was kinda expensive, but I'm glad I got it.

I almost always tether with my gun. Especially when I shoot the non regulated guns. Gives me nice consistent shots. Easy to set up at the bench. I just throw all my stuff in the box and roll it over to the bench. I'm using the Ninja High Pressure fill station. I like them so much I just picked another one for backup off ebay last week.
I'm surprised more guys don't use them for target shooting.

I recently picked up an Omega Air Charger for my tank. Only had to use it once, but my tank is down to around 3300 psi, so I'll soon get to use the Air Charger again.

I use a little Shoebox compressor that I carry around also.

Dirte, my first ever 4500 compressor was a Shoebox that I got from Joe Brancato. Used it sparingly for 4 years (I didn't need to air up my tank frequently). It sprung an irreparable leak and I replaced it with the Omega Air Charger (actually it was hit by a dang .22 LR ricochet right on the left-side surface of the metal box between the lower cylinder and the place where the output line ties to into the male foster fitting. Tried some JB Weld, but the pressure was too great for the JB to hold).

I like it that the Omega Air Charger is a "stand alone" compressor that doesn't need a pusher compressor like the Shoebox does. While my little Shoebox served me well, this Air Charger is really nice. It airs up my tank from 3000 to 4500 in no time at all.

Right now my air tank is down to about 3300 psi and when it gets to 3000, I'm gonna hook it up to the Omega for the second time . And this time I'm gonna time it and see how long it takes to reach 4500.

I thought the little Shoebox compressor was heavy, but this Omega weighs a ton. When me in a wheelchair, the Omega ain't portable.

I have always taken it to work with me. We have a large industrial air dryer on premises. The dew point is always from -75 to -140. I never need to worry about moisture this way. This is one reason I bought the little Shoebox.
