Verminator/wildcat

I like the verminator with the short shrouded barrel and the wildcat. .22 or .25 though I know I like .22 but haven't tried .25. Has anyone had experience with one or both of these models, and what do you think of them. My use is most likely hunting, less than 100 yards( mostly 50 or less) gray squirrel or smaller. I like extreme precision ie the gun is better than I'll ever be and silence! I'm not talking about the long extreme verminator, but the short shrouded one on the Fx site. These appeal to me because they are short, light and hopefully accurate and quiet.

The Verminator without a shroud extension is not quiet to say the least. It's flat out loud. If you want "silent" you'll have to put an extension on. The Wildcat in stock form is not "loud" but, not "silent" by any means. The Wildcat is quieter then the Verminator unless you have the shroud extension. I owned the Verminator with the Hugget shroud and it was VERY quiet. As near "silent" as you can get in my opinion. If you want the shortest form factor, with the quietest report you can get factory, it will be the Wildcat.

This only applies to .22 cal. I have no experience with either in a .25

Thanks for the response AZBOBCAT. The verminator write up says the add on shroud extension makes it Very quiet. Do you know if shroud extensions or moderators can be added to the wildcat to make it whisper? I'm checking what Fx has written up also, but thought I'd ask in case anyone knows.

P.s. AOA site states that you can get an additional shroud extension for extra quiet on the verminator.

I preferred the Verminator only because I'm not a Bullpup guy. They were both very accurate. The shorter barrel had zero affect on accuracy. That's the beauty of the Smooth Twist barrel. The "rifling" is only the last 2 1/2 or so inches. The only thing you loose with the short barrel is velocity. Which, in my case, didn't matter because my Verminator was a .177. Even with the 12 inch barrel, I was still at 17 FPE. Now, of the Bullpups I've shot, I prefer the Wildcat. I really like the light weight and the cocking lever location.

The Huggett should be $220. At least that's what the Bobcat unit is.

I would say shoot with the standard verminator mod first and see what you think. most of the noise you here is at the shooters position. let someone else shoot the verm and stand 10 yds away the loudest thing you will hear is the pellet hitting a hard object. i also have the modular FX mod and I think it just changes the pitch a little. adding more modules may help as most mods work on volume over baffles. i dont see 220 for a hugget as a cost for performance value. i shoot indoors a lot into the backyard and my wife doesnt hear it while watching tv in the other room.
