Vector Optics 34mm Continental 5-30x56FFP vs Element Titan 5-25x56FFP or ?

I have been searching for a while for a new scope for my future FX Impact MK2 .357 to be used for general target and occasional hunting small to medium game. My eyes were never the greatest and as time goes on, I wanted to spend a bit more to get a good scope that could still focus on things as close as 15 yards but also go to 100 or more yards. I wanted something that even as i get older and if my eyes get weaker I could still see well at long range targets.

After searching a while the two that seem to be promising are the Vector Optics 34mm Continental 5-30x56FFP https://www.vectoroptics.com/products/view/id/SCFF-30.html and sells for around the same price of https://www.amazon.com/Vector-Optics-Continental-Adjustment-Picatinny/dp/B084RF2SJ9 around $799 as does the Element Titan 5-25x56FFP

https://spaweapons.com/collections/element-optics-by-fx/products/titan which is also the same price.

I was looking at Athlon but they seem to start more like 20 yards and up and the only other scopes that seem to have ability to sight in close range yet have great magnification for long range were ones that were more like $1500 to many thousands. I was also thinking of the Aztec Emerald 5.5-25x50FFP but thought the Titan or Continental at a higher quality? I would like to get opinions on these two scopes, the Vector Optics & Element as they seem to provide that range and are around the price I was willing to spend. I am open to others if anyone recommends something else to consider. I wanted a FFP, zero stop, and something reliable that would last, sight in close range of around 15 yards, have 24x or more magnification, and I am indifferent on where it was made but more focused on a quality end product. I want to get the best quality that can have that range for somewhere around $800 +/- $100 dollars.

🔸Scope Specs List 🔸

I'll attach a Scope Specs List with around 40 scopes with 24x or more on the top end — and 6x or lower on the bottom end.

🔶All have holdoff reticles, and the list indicates if the reticle has thick outside posts (so that the FFP reticle is still visible at low magnifications).

Includes many links to videos that show the reticle being zoomed in/out all the way.

All have side parallax down to 10 yards.

With prices noted, beteen $900 and $200.

🔶Specs include:

Warranty info

Max. elevation adjustment

IR or not

Weight/ Length

Note if turrets and reticle are MIL/MIL or MOA/MOA — or some bastarded version of that....

Total clicks per turret revolution

["All" = includes a very few exceptions 👍🏼]

Happy scope shopping! 😄

Thanks for all that info Yo. That'll keep me awake for a while tonight.

I currently have the votex diamondback 6-24x50 ffp but looking for a little more power. Maybe 30 or 32. I was looking at the athlon ares 4.5-30x56 ffp aplr5 at quite a few more $. Have you looked at the Ares yet? I know it only goes down to 25yds but I don't do a lot of shooting below 25. I'm mainly interested in above 50 out to over 100. I imagine in a few more years EBR could well move past 100yds for the finals.

Thanks for any guidance.

Yo,

I'm glad you're back. 👍🏼

You are truly excited about the AIM SPORTS Alpha6 4.5-27×50.

I tried to find the manufacturer, the brand, their home page, anything, but they don't seem to exist apart from a very few stores that sell this scope.

Reason is I want to find a home page is because the information (the specs) are sparse about them.... 🤔

Also, I'd really like an FFP version. You said you think the "JSAR scope" is the same "brand" as the Alpha6? How does one come to know this — have you found a webpage of the brand?

Thanks for your help! 👍🏼

Matthias

FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THE ARES because THAT is THE SCOPE I am referring to as the $1200 CHINESE SCOPE to compare the $229 Aim Sports Alpha6 4.5-27x50 illuminated 10 yard focus scope to.

BTW the Alpha6 will SMOKE the 6-24x50 Vortex Diamondback Tactical there is ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON IT IS LAUGHABLE!!!

Thanks Yo,

I looked at the alpha6 but I couldn't find an moa version also they seem to only have an "outline" of a Christmas tree reticle instead of a full tree holdover reticle. I might order one though just for comparison with the vortex and millett scopes I currently have.

Without getting into the $2,000 plus scopes, the diamondback is the only one I've found with the features I'm looking for. ffp, tree reticle, moa and not having a fat crosshair in the middle.

Thanks again

EDITED†**†************

Misstyped above. The Ares is the only one I've found with a higher magnification and all the features I'm looking for.

Yo, I really appreciate your input! I looked at the Tac Vector Taurus which is currently selling for $279 but looking at the specifications it says 20 yards, so while it is a great scope otherwise I am thinking of spending a bit more on the Vector Optics line to get one that can work at a close range. The Alpha6 looks great but is SFP not FFP but I might get that for one of my other air rifles. I had the same issue as "Jungleshooter" as I could not find the JSAR on the web to find specs, just very general description with no details. You provided great deals and I appreciate your input!

Jungleshooter thanks, that is an awesome summary sheet you provided!

30Harry - I was looking at the Athlon ARES but it also only goes down to 20 yards, which is why I think the top of the line Vector Optics, the Continental 34MM 5-30-56 seems like it checks all of the boxes for me and sounds like you are looking for something similar. That scope goes down to 10 yards yet has magnification to 30, FFP scope, and as "Sdel2" pointed out has German Schott glass.

So I am kind of leaning towards the https://www.vectoroptics.com/products/view/id/SCFF-30.html Continental 34MM FFP 5-30x56 right now.

Yes, I see it does check all the boxes and I'm looking for one to order now. It is quite a bit cheaper that the Ares even though the 20 yards doesn't bother me I'd still prefer cheaper if it is a good scope. Opticplanet says it wouldn't ship for one to three months. Looking for one in stock now.

I've gotten more out of this thread than any other. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Yo or anyone else, have you heard much about Vector Optics new 34mm FFP 5-30x56? That one seems to be better than the Athlon ARES and other more expensive scopes as it can go down to 10 yards and has German glass, etc. but it is their most expensive scope with the lowest price I found thus far of $799 https://www.amazon.com/Vector-Optics-Continental-Adjustment-Picatinny/dp/B084RF2SJ9/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=vector+optics+continental+34mm+5-30x56&qid=1594679208&sr=8-3

The Continental Tactical is also 5-30x56 but is SFP and can go down to 15 yards with a much lower cost of $399 https://www.amazon.com/TAC-Vector-Optics-Continental-Riflescope/dp/B07M7LM8C6

I would rather have a FFP versus the SFP but maybe since it is so new nobody has started to offer it at more competitive prices yet? Any thoughts between these two scopes?

"and has German glass"

Unless you know that the lenses are German made, I am very leery of how advertisers word their products. It DOES NOT state "German lenses", it DOES state "German optical system" a whole nother description. A German 'system' can simply be German design, NOT lenses.

For instance, if you visit the Vector website and pull up the manual for the Vector Continental and go to the last page, it will state "Made in China". There IS no truth in advertising is all I'm saying, one must read very carefully how the words are put together to make things 'sound' better than they really are.

Although this doesn't necessarily mean that the lenses aren't German made, it just seems unlikely. This by the way, does not detract from the fact that they maybe the best glass for the cash. I just believe that a verification is necessary for Vector to prove where the lenses are made.

That's what makes me leery. If you have that proof, then I for one would love to know.

Thanks!

mike

Revoman, thanks for the information. Whom knows as it could be German lenses but assembled with the rest of their parts they make in China and thus they say made in China; just like the US companies that say made in the USA when many parts are from all over the world.

30harry - I cannot wait to hear from your real life experiences with it in your hands and shooting with that scope! That will be the real test. On paper and based on the many good points Yo provided and even Cyclops whom has reviewed other Vector Optics that company seems to make great quality products, so on a paper it seems like a better scope than the Titan? Both are made in China but the Helix has great marketing from famous air gun shooters but they are outsourcing the production so everybody has to make money and since they sell for the exact same price, one would think that the 34mm Continental can have better materials and features since they do it all, manufacture, assemble, and sell it?

Just bought the little brother of the Continental line:

Vector Continental 4-24x56 FFP 34mm

Now the waiting for Christmas begins....

I will review it -- it seems to have so much going for it as far as specs go, seems to be a "scope that does it all" -- but the question now becomes glass quality and reliable tracking. 😊

Glass quality should be great as mid tier Chinese scopes are getting better every year. Tracking has improved but I would not trust it for long shots, under 100 yards it should be ok though.
