Vector Calypos 3x quick review

Here’s a quick review of my favourite short range scope . First off this is not the regular optic but a prism sight similar to how the military ACOG works. I’ve had this little beauty mounted to a few different rifles and even the PP750 and now finds its home on the Leshiy 2.
Let me start off with the eye relief , in the specs it states a 3” eye relief , this is a little on the generous side and I have found it closer to 2.5 “ . Luckily the base is removable with two socket screws , I have mine mounted with only one screw to the furthest hole. Due to the wedge type mount I don’t think this will move and feels very solid .The eye box on this scope is very forgiving and I haven’t gotten the black blurr even when I’m not perfectly lined up like you would see on a high magnification optic.
Next are the turrets for windage and elevation. The specs are 1/2 MOA and I think that’s dead on , the turrets are capped and use the ball/ spring detent. At 90 MOA for both elevation and windage there’s plenty of room for shooting out much further or making adjustments for an out of alignment barrel. The adjusters are blade type so if in the field a screwdriver is a must.
The scope comes with lens caps that are not what I would call military grade , but they do click into place when not in use and do the job they were designed for without opening up.
The reticle .I really like the simplicity of this design . The centre dot looks to be 1/2 MOA in diameters from the testing I’ve done and covers a 1/2” circle at 50 yards . The manual gives some description of the reticle but not in great detail. It is designed as a BDC for the 5.52 NATO round with the gap between hash marks spaced for this bullet and NOT mil or MOA . To me this is not a deal breaker but it might be for some. The illumination had 10 brightness settings that lights up the entire reticle and is good from low light conditions to full day sun .
The parallax is fixed to 100 yards but I have not had very much error even when shooting down to 10 yards or less which is the most important . Not to mention the picture is still clear at such a short distance when compared to other similar optics.

Overall this is my favourite prism of the three I’ve tested. The weight is less than both the Bushnell Accelerate 4x and the Burris AR-332. The eye relief while not very long , still better that the others I’ve tried . Now I just wish the folks at Vector optics would come out with a higher magnification model in let’s say 6X or 8X . There are a lot of these types of sights out there with magnification between 1X and 14X and pricing between 200 and 3500$ . This one came in at a very low price 300$ CAD and worth every penny .

Can you post a picture of this mounted on your Leshiy 2, both folded and unfolded?

I'm looking for a 3x prism for my Classic Leshiy. Not the same rifle but I'm curious to get an idea.
