UTG/Leapers for warranty issues?

Man, what a drag. I contacted UTG over a week ago about a SWAT scope that I've been having trouble with. Sucker just won't hold zero anymore, and is a bit over a year old. They suggested recentering, which I did. Ended up with a bit more than 1/4 turn of downward elevation adjustment when optically centered (using the bathroom mirror, as described on the video link sent to me). Ok, to me this seems like a no-brainer. Something mechanically "not right" with the scope? Anyway, rep sends me an RMA and says they'll process my return as fast as possible (after being checked over by the tech guys...ok, that's fair). Just pack it up in the original box and packaging, with all the original do-dads, and ship it back. What? I was supposed to keep the original packaging for, what, the rest of my life? Scope's over a year old, and the empty packaging was taking up much needed space (my hobby room is a converted closet that shares space with household tools, etc). When I have a problem with one of my Center Point scopes (which has happened more often than I care to admit...that's why I went to UTG), they just say: "problem? ok, new one's on the way, either throw out the old one (bundled scopes), or throw it in a box and ship it to us (store bought ones)." To be fair, I asked the question: "what if I don't have the old packaging," and am waiting for a reply. Any one ever return a UTG/Leapers?
