USPS---No wonder they're broke

Note to vendors, don't send anything USPS

2nd day air package shipped from Trenier Outdoors on Wednesday. I figured it would never be here on time. Heck Sparta WI. to my house in MI. is 7 hours away.

Checked Friday evening, in transit. Expected delivery is now Monday. OK 5 days not close to the 2 day delivery.

OK it's Monday, still not here, checked tracking. Says it's still in transit, left the distribution center in NEBRASKA. wtf That's now another 10 hours west of the point of origin.

I am waiting for someones package to circum navigate the earth to get a package delivered.

Note to USPS, Just shut the doors now.

I have not used USPS in years because of this problem and wish vendors would follow suit. And no I did not have an option to ship by other means.

Thanks for listening to me. Happy Holidays to all, and be safe.

This might make you feel better. This is almost a $3k package I’m waiting on. Here is the tracking. Left Utah and went to Nevada then sat for 4 days. Then it went back to Utah. Then it went to Wyoming. Now it’s in Nebraska. I live in Pennsylvania. Almost seven days of getting a tour of the Midwest and it just seems like my gun doesn’t want to come east. Utah airguns said they would ship it for free. That’s where I screwed up and should have said no had I known they were going to ship an expensive gun FedEx ground.

All of the shippers are swamped right now. Between everybody shopping on line due to Covid and now it is the holiday season on top of that. They are all having issues. Even Amazon with their own fleet is having delays beyond normal.

I have had good and bad service from every one of them. In all honesty USPS, for me, has been as good or better than Fedex or UPS. Amazon even with there recent delays has so far been the best as long as it is a Prime shipment. But Prime shipping isn't as free as they want you to believe. Many items are cheaper without Prime. But then you sometimes don't getting shipping included. So it is often a wash.

I received 2 packages in the last week that shipped 2 day Priority Mail. Both arrived 14 days after shipping. Fedex and UPS are just as bad. All I can say to the complainers is, “This is a free country. If you think you can do better, this would be a great time to start a delivery business”. I don’t like it either, but it is what it is. Please stop whining. Those 2 packages that took 2 weeks to arrive-I never contacted the shippers or delivery company. If they have to stop to answer questions and trace packages, it will take even longer to get them. I’ve been told there are currently no delivery standards with ANY of the delivery companies. They’re doing the best they can. Really? They are missing employees due to Covid and must practice social distancing. If that isn’t bad enough, now they have vaccines to distribute. Get over it.

Its a Covid thing normally they are ok.

I agree with Odoyle 100% here. At least they don’t man-handle packages like UPS. I had UPS damage a kick drum which was part of a vintage kit worth $5k. Long story short, I couldn’t sell the kit for a grand after the repair. That was the worst issue. Just a few days ago, I received some exotic wood from Woodpeckers to build two custom mid-century nightstands. The wood was half in and half out of the box. We’re talking about several hundred in wood value to build about $2k in furniture..

I used to have faith in FedEx until my Hill compressor ended up at a random house a few streets down from me. From that point on, there were more local reports of issues with them.

Out of the three, I still believe that USPS is the better pick. I also see wonky shipping updates from USPS where a package seems to be moving fine, or too quickly, then it bypasses me.. off to Hawaii by way of Maine getting back to me a day or more late. But, it eventually arrives without incident.

People tend to give the postal service more flack than they deserve. A lot of the employees are veterans, or used to be. I think a lot of the flack given is just political rhetoric.

I recently bought something and it turned out FED EX SmartPost was the least expensive way to get it. It was supposed to get here in 7-10 business days. 3 days after I ordered it, it was in a FED EX facility about 50 miles from where I live (Wisconsin). GREAT, right? The next day I check tracking and it's "in transit" to Indiana! WTH! When it was finally handed off to USPS it did take about 10 days.

Not another one of these threads…. Seems "bash USPS" is a trend out there this past few months. For what it's worth vendors I am way more likely to order small items from you like pellets and slugs if you offer USPS priority flat rate option. I personally avoid FedEx and UPS if it all possible because in Portland at least they have miserable shipping records. If I'm ordering pellets and one vendor offers USPS shipping I will always buy from them over one who doesn't even if it's a little bit more expensive. FedEx and UPS always throw their packages and dented the poop out of the tins of pellets that I order. Somehow the post office has some more gentle handling of packages or maybe it's just a small package is being put in the mailbox instead of thrown at my door. I mean FedEx has a 100% dented pellet record with me with the exception of those that are packaged ridiculously carefully (pyramyd). It shows me that they always drop or mistreat packages and only the most securely packaged make it through undamaged.

Vetmx- I've had great luck with fed-ex ground. Just anything 2 day air gets screwed up. 3K...I would be nervous no matter what.

Bill - UPS has been pretty good also but like I said above, Just anything 2 day air gets screwed up.

JimNM- I know what you mean. I just had to vent.

Matt- hahahahahahahahah how true it is.

Ripper-it wont matter. They got us all by the short hairs.

Carl- I completely understand what you are saying. My package will arrive,,, eventually. What I don't understand is how a delivery driver can place 2 packages on my porch, directly under my address, and they were for my neighbor 2 doors down.

Top-I dont see Odoyle's posts but I will say there are days that all the delivery services suck and days they shine. My package just missed the shin day. oh well. If you had my rural USPS delivery guy you would not feel at all bad asking this guy if he knew what he was doing. He has to try to get things so messed up.

leadfoot- I am in Michigan, sent a 2 day package to California. Check 2 days later and it was leaving the Maine sorting facility.

To all-am I mad, nope, not at all. I just think it's ridicules.... Especially when Krale in the Netherlands would get my order to me in 3 days or less. Thank you for telling me of your experiences. Hope you all have a great week and a wonderful holiday season. Stay safe, hug your loved ones.

The other carriers aren't any better. I ordered a part from Serbia, it was shipped via DHL. In 3 days, it made it from Serbia entering the U.S. in Cincinnati, then through Memphis, the Destination Facility in Mobile, AL, about an hour from my house. It sat in Mobile for 4 days and then went to China! It was back in the States 3 days later, and made it back to Mobile 2 days later and was delivered the next day! So yea, it did essentially circumnavigate the world!

I think I’m gonna try to wait until end of January or maybe even February before I order anything online for now.

☝🏽This.

I'm pretty much done with my online Christmas shopping for my family. I still need to purchase some items for myself but I'm scared of my packages getting lost in the holiday/covid mail rush. I'll wait. In regards to USPS, they have always been reliable for me. It takes longer these days but I eventually receive my packages.
