USPS is Horrible

I have seen posts from forum members which state USPS is great for them and how wonderful they are. I'm glad that has been their experience but for many others it is just not the case.

I ordered some slugs from NSA and I live in MA, to give this context. Here is the tracking from USPS as of this morning.

So sending the shipment to Puerto Rico is cost effective? I would love for other shipping options besides USPS because they have proven they are overwhelmed and just aren't getting the job done effectively or in a timely manner.

I really like my NSA slugs but may be time to offer other shipping options to customers. It may be time for all the vendors to start offering alternative means of getting purchased products to the customer.

I, for one, don't mind paying a higher price for better service; if other options are available I always bypass USPS because of their lack of ability to provide good, not great, services. As I stated in the beginning, for some USPS is awesome but this type of service has been the normal for me. Hell, we don't even get mail delivery daily anymore when they say they do. I ise informed delivery and when it shows you have 3 items of mail to be delivered and they don't show up for 3 days there is a problem.

Sorry to see this, it is clearly a mistake and hopefully it will get rerouted to you soon enough.

The thing with the USPS is, when you're dealing with any large entity that does the volume anywhere near the quantity that the USPS does, there's bound to be horror stories. It's inevitable that there will be delayed/lost items, poor customer service, unsuccessful insurance claims where clearly they should've been approved, etc. But just think about the sheer volume they do each and every day . . . by postal workers who are probably overworked and underpaid. Yet they get the vast majority of things delivered mostly on time and sometimes even early and its the very small minority of the time that they have an issue that gets surfaced. There aren't a whole lot of people that go around praising the USPS for delivering on time day after day after day - it's just human nature that we mostly speak up when something's wrong.

UPS has their own skeletons in the closet. So does FedEX. As does DHL. Name any big company operating at scale and you'll realize there isn't a perfect company out there. Shiite happens with every company, which is why some people love their cable company while others hate them. And your phone company, bank or credit card company - do they bat 1.000% all the time? Absolutely not.

Anyways, I'm not a USPS employee nor do I have any affiliation with them but just wanted to point out the other perspective as someone who's bought and sold a lot of items for my various hobbies through the years. Yes, they've been slow sometimes, sent items in puzzling routes, lost packages, damaged others, refused an insurance claim or two . . . but for the vast majority of the time, they've done there job so I can't complain . . . until the next time my highly anticipated package goes missing or arrives in pieces ;)

its generally been alright ... right now shipping is so overwhelmed by crap being rerouted because of the container and port crisis as well as a manpower shortage ots amazing it isnt at a complete standstill ... thank your liberal democrat govt for doing everythjng contrary to human well being possible ... cognitive dissonance for everyone should be their motto ...

I would say the last year or two I’ve seen a couple more cases of packages taking the wrong route, usually it take a day longer as they reverse the route.

Between all the major services in my area, they are easily the fastest when compared to other ground rates. And cheapest.

however, I will say, if they loose ur package…..ur pretty much up the creek.

20 million and 170 million, that's how many packages and pieces of first class mail, respectively, are delivered each day by USPS. It is a logistical nightmare. Believe it or not, most studies show the USPS to be the most efficient mail delivery system in the world. As with many things, we're a bit spoiled. I'm no expert, but it seems if the bulk rates on marketing stuff (junk mail) were substantially increased, it might lessen the load, and provide a little financial help.

Or usps service is ok... they mostly get things here on time without damaging anything but I haven't had any better luck with the other carriers either. Damaged packaging like they dropped something heavy on top of your box or looks like they just kicked it on to the truck, left out in the rain with to get soaked and my favorite, delivered to some other address down the road and you have to go searching for it. I agree with others that it's got worse over the last year or so. Going to Puerto Rico seems a little ridiculous though. Like you I would be willing to pay a bit more for better service.

maybe they need a little drying in the Caribbean sun

All I can do is laugh about it instead of loosing my mind 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for making me laugh!!! I really mean that.

Still funny to me that I can order from Huma-Air and get my order in 3 days but just about everything here in the US takes a week or more...Just the way it is now a days.

Somehow the absolute garbage that is the USPS can only get Nielsen slugs to my house without jacking up the delivery. Every single other thing that has been shipped to me or that I have had the misfortune of shipping through them has been an absolute nightmare. It took them 4 weeks to ship one magazine from Kalifornia to Ohio. They had the audacity to send me a random survey 2 weeks before I even got that package.

Yup! USPS is bad. I had some grips for an air pistol sit in Cincinnati for over a month. They never moved. It took several complaints for them to find, and ship them to me.

UPS is just as bad, though. I ordered a 20’ ladder that was shipped in May. They sent it to the wrong state, first. After a complaint, they got it to Columbus, Ohio. It sat there for two weeks. When I called, they said it was lost. A “dock search” was started and they found it crushed, with no box.

Fed-Ex? Do not get me started,….they use independent contractors for the last leg of delivery- and they do not care what happens to your stuff.

I totally agree. Huma-Air, Krale and EdgunLeshiy.shop all get to my door in 2-3 days.

I thought I would add to the entertainment by posting this USPS tracking from some bits ordered from eBay.
