Uragan standard -- or rti prophet performance

I have a RTI Prophet Performance in .22. Shoots the JSB redesigned at 985 out of the box.
It is no way quiet without a moderator.
A 250bar fill nets 50 shots before it comes off reg. I may turn it down a bit (965) before we leave on our prairie dog hunt in a few days.

Not sure why you would need or want to shoot slugs at least in the Prophet. The only advantage of slugs over redesigned’s I see is at 100 yards, the slugs’ energy is 6FPE higher and a 6” drop whereas the redesigned is going to be 7”.
Also at 100 yards in a 10mph 90 deg wind, slugs only gain 3MOA.
Not dissin’ the Uragan. AGT makes great guns. I had a Vulcan. I came thiissss close to buying a Uragan for this years’ hunt until I was paired with a member here who shot the Prophet at a Xtreme FT match. It shot lights out.
The Prophet is an unbelievably simple platform. If you ever did need to service or want to tune the gun (my advice is leave it alone) it would be a breeze.
Good luck and enjoy whichever gun you choose.

Apples to oranges here as I Have a Prophet 25 and a Uragan 177, Both are great guns but the Prophet is stupid simple, Anything you want to do to the gun,,, Uragan a little harder to tune, Little harder to get to the hammer spring adjuster, A LOT harder to get to the Regulator Adjustment might need some special tools .

or maybe not , You do have to open the gun up.

With my part (fullish) time return to the USA, I am planning to get a 22 cal PCP, then a probably at the end of the year, or beginning of next 177 PCP. These guns will join my remaining PCP a 25 cal Taipan Vet Compact which I kind of consider a truck gun.

The PCPs I have been looking at had been broad, and I thought I had the selection decided, and then the RTI Prophet Performance Compact showed up. The RTI PPC really has caught my attention, and meets many of my requirements. Light compact, versatile, 22 cal, with a great trigger, can be a bit adjusted be a bit adaptable to different situations, and established accuracy. The AGTs have also come up, and I am sure I will eventually own one.

Guys thanks a lot .. for your input .. I appreciate it.. I will go rti .. because is a simple setup to work on .. I really didn't want to open the gun .. I was hoping since the uragan. 30 have such power the .22 will be able to push heavy. 22 without to much work..

Keep in mind the Prophet's barrel was designed for pellets long range. If you want to shoot slugs I recommend but a barrel kit for the Priest, they are available from AoA and then that other barrel is going to be better for slug and pellets. This is the reason I never changed my Priest, the barrel will shoot about anything.

Answering the question why shooting slugs over pellets....wind I've had very windy days and slugs will do better

I have uragan in .30 and priest in 25. Priest is by far the best bullpup for me. light, compact. But I would say buy both!!!!! Since my uragan is in 30 cal, it's longer. But man that thing is super unique looking. both inside and outside. hammer is reversed and one of a kind.

have them in your hands and keep one, sell the other. I would

MIKE, that mold is that and length of the slug? wow tlooks goooooood

I've got both a Uragan and an RTI Prophet in .22 (NOT LR Dairyboy !!).

While rearranging the green dot sight on my Uragan Compact yesterday, I put three pellets in one (small) hole, standing, offhand shooting. My indoor range is short (only about 18yrds), I still managed that trio with my 70yr. old eyes,

I quit for the day, knowing that I probably couldn't match that again, it would only get worse from there..!

I may sell my Prophet Performance when the Compact comes to the dealers. Yes it's also accurate, but just a little too long.

Duy, the mold is the 84 gr NOE Ranch dog and I decked it to throw at 38 grains. Hp work on this mold was done by Eric at Hollow Point Mold Services. Man, he has gone up in price! 75 bucks a cavity now. On a 5 cavity mold he charges for 4 and no cost n the fifth.

I'll check the length tonight in the shop. I don't remember right now. And Mic. is in the shop. GRRR!!!

I opened the barrel port to .188 which is really the proper size for pellets. I need to open her up to .251 for the slugs. I also added a Huma Reg. with a 22 thou shim for higher pressure. Don't have a reg. tester but seems to drop off at 27 hundred Going to turn it back another bar.

I've done no valve or block port work at all yet. It doesn't really need it for now. It is already a little monster and opening further would very well cost air and loose power at the same time.

Duy, pointed out that the hammer strikes backwards. This gives a much less obtrusive vibration thru the frame making for a smoother shot cycle.
