Uragan Standard: How to remove barrel?

Ok I need some help here. A .30 cal slug got jammed in the breech and I can't remove the magazine.... to make matters worse, the mag rotated and a second slug is blocking the pellet probe. Action is stuck open.

Now, I think the easiest way to unjam this is to remove the barrel. I have not been able to find a video or description on how to do this. I don't think mucking around without knowing WTH I'm doing is a good idea.

Any help??

How did the first slug get jammed in..?

Can you pull the cocking lever all the way back and tap the magazine out or did you try to push the second .30 cal pellet into the barrel also? It's a metal magazine so you shouldn't do any damage to it by tapping it a little. If you can pull the cocking lever back to the point where the probe is not in contact with the pellet … it might work, otherwise you are gonna have to take the barrel out. You might also try using a 3/16" dowel rod to push the pellet back towards the magazine by pushing from the crown area to the breech area.

More than likely though … that barrel will have to come out.

The gun looks like a Vulcan2 and I could probably try to talk you through it, but I haven't opened up my Uragan yet and wont until Christmas. If you wanna try, let me know and we'll see what we can do.

Shalom

Take stock off. Take the action cover off. Take the scope rail off. You will have (4) set screw securing the barrel at the breech action. You will have (8) set screws securing the barrel at the cocking/rail/trigger assembly.

You don’t have to degas to do this. However, if you want to leave the barrel secured to the cocking/rail/trigger assembly, you could degas (bleed-down screw is under bottom accessory rail) disconnect high pressure hose and trigger turn-buckle from one side. With this done you could remove the (4) action set screws securing the barrel and separate the two assemblies. No need to take off scope rail is going this route. *Caution, even with the bottle depressurized, you have regulated pressure downstream of the reg. The gun can still fire a few shots!!

I hope that helps.

@zx10wall - Thanks so much, very very helpful.

All I really need to do is back the barrel out an inch or so, clear the jam, remove the mag, then reassemble. Doesn't seem necessary to degas for this... thoughts?

Correct. That is all that is necessary is seems to me. Create needed clearance for mag to release. Use wooden dowel or other appropriate tool fed in from muzzle to clear bore. FYI, there is no transfer port seal between barrel and action. The barrel to action is metal to metal. No O.D. barrel o’rings.

Upon reassembly, Make certain that you get the barrel back as far as possible but still allow mag to slide in and out without restriction. The (4) screws need to be snugged well.

Yep, just like the Vulcan2

1 remove scope

2 remove scope rail

3 remove dust cover

4 loosen 12 little screws that hold barrel in place

look to see or measure how much barrel is protruding from breech area, should be about 1/8"

5 grab barrel and slowly twist and pull barrel out

6 reassemble

7 rub barrel with silicone grease to make sliding through the guide hole easier

8 make allowance for magazine in rear when finally setting the exact position of the barrel

9 you did it!!!

so for a guy that doesn't own one of the these rifles, why did this happen at all

and I'm I to assume that first round cleared the mag and then at that point the first round was not fully seated and you didn't pull the mag out but started to stuff another round in the breech

single shot tray for testing maybe

I couldn't tell ya, I've never double loaded a gun in my life. My gun has double loaded before, but it wasn't my fault. That pellet just jumped right out of the magazine and got stuck because the first one wouldn't move over for him. You know, it's kinda like when I wrecked my car and the LEO wanted to know what happened … well ozzifer, that tree just jumped right out of the woods and hit my car. Simple as that, Sheite happens.

Thats a good question. Guess I'll find out tonight when I break it down. I advanced the slug and met with bad resistance, so I backed the handle up and, as luck would have it, that was the last round in the mag, which then rotated to block the pin.

OK! There. Fixed it.

Many thanks to those here who helped, the jam has been cleared. I still don't really understand what exactly caused it... once I backed out the barrel a few cm I could see the .30 slug about 3/4 of the way into the breech end. I put my finger on it and the slug smoothly just slid all the way into the barrel. **shrug**

Mag easily slid out and viola, done deal. I did do a smack up barrel polish also.

I love the Uragan, how it shoots/feels, just about everything about it... BUT... Taking out the barrel is a damn chore. Cleaning it is easy enough without disassembly, but really AGT, put some thought into easy barrel breakdown.
