What’s the life expectancy on the cf bottle gun's air tank?

~6yrs I do believe. However, they are incredibly safe. Safety margin is high as well. So, personally, I'm not exactly sure when I would replace mine

I wouldn't think there is one. That DOT law cover CF tanks used in fire fighting environments.

I've read the actual law and it specifically mandates that CF wrapped tanks must be "decommissioned" for fire-fighting use after 15 years. They have amended it since to allow tanks to be extended for an additional 15 years if they are certified by certain companies approved by DOT to certify them.

I dont own a bottle gun. I wonder if their bottles are dated specifically for the purpose to note their life span? Like the scuba tanks.

Some have dates on them. My Bantam has a "first inspection date of 03/2023 and the last inspection date of 03/2033." I treat it just like I treat the 15 year life date of my CF tanks, I ignore it. The Department of Transportation laws were originated to regulate the transportation of hazardous materials over the highways. The CF tanks fell under it because of the high-pressures that they contain.

If there was a legal requirement for a life span, it would be stamped or moulded into the bottle. The owners manual should specify inspection intervals and or if replacement is necessary, just like a tube-type model.

Terry - since this subject has come up a few times I emailed the Fire Protection agency today and asked if airgun cylinders are covered. As soon as I get a response I will post it in this thread.

In some Countries such as Germany, yes.
In the USA air pressure vessels under 2" and under, NO. this includes both air tubes and bottles. C,F Steel, or Alu.

That may be so but I haven't heard of any CF bottle guns with an under 2-inch diameter bottle.
