Uragan (updates as I learn the gun)

Someone was asking about a brass restrictor, here is what was in mine (UK .22 Long).

I made some different ones from 8mm bras round bar.

How does one exactly adjust for trigger pull (weight)?? Do you open the fork on the trigger rod and turn in a certain direction??

If no one else jumps in, I'll pull my stock in the morning. As I was about to reply I got myself confused between the Uragan and the Edgun, I think they are basically the same trigger rod arrangement. Would hate to post bad info but the short answer is that you are not going to be able to adjust it like a true match trigger.

I've noticed the wind will push that pellet where ever it want desired to. This is amplified at 100 and beyond.

You may be describing spin drift which is a deflection generated by the gyroscopic motion of the projectile. The direction of the deflection is toward the direction of the spin, and the amount of deflection is dependent on projectiles length, flight time and, of course, spin rate.

No this is in no wind conditions . Also Shots have been taken at 10yds and 40-50yds to check scope windage alignment and it was fine. There have been numerous users with the same issues, I was suspecting some possible problem with the barrels maybe ?

Have you tested other PCPs shooting at the same time in these same conditions and scenarios? If so, same or different results?

I picked up a three-month-old Uragan Compact in .177 yesterday. Popped a Hawke Airmax Compact 4-16x44 on it and went down to the local indoor range this afternoon. It only took a few shots to zero at 15 yards so I took it out to 25 yards and got this:

The outlier to the left was completely my fault and there are ten shots in the main group. I think I'd struggle to beat that with my HW100 with extra barrel-clamping screws and a CustomStocks CS800. The next time I go I'll be upstairs on the 50 yard range. I put a few shots over the chrono while I was there and it's running just on 11 ftlbs and the trigger second stage is a little heavier than I'd like. Fortunately, I've read this thread and got the info I need to adjust both.

The questions I do have are

1 Does anyone know the size of the thread between shroud and moderator?

2 Has anyone managed to dismantle the moderator and make it a bit more calibre-specific? The hole down the middle seems a bit excessive for .177......

Ah, thanks. I thought it could be 14mm as the mod just slipped over a 1/2" UNF barrel but it looked too coarse for the usual 14x1. I see that the shop from which I bought the gun sells the DonnyFL range of moderators for which there is a Vulcan adapter. This is plan B if I can't get into the original moderator.

Looking at that mod, I think there's plenty of scope for improvement. It has a good volume so somehow inserting a couple of calibre-specific baffles plus another at the exit should make quite a difference. I have form with this sort of thing having spent a considerable amount of time fiddling with the shroud on my MFR....

I can see what the internals look like - a cylinder of what looks like foam held in place by a large spring. Rather than struggle I went with Plan B and bought a DonnyFL Tatsu which has a slightly larger diameter than the original but is a good bit shorter. It looks good on the gun and is noticeably more effective than the original. The longer Sumo is even more effective but I thought the Tatsu would be adequate. I've also found a UK manufacturer of an adapter to 1/2" UNF so one of those will be here in a day or three.

Finally got my huma reg in today and wanted to compare to the stock reg. Definitely adds a lot of plenum volume. I like that I can adjust through the hole with a flat head screw driver. It’s installed now. Left it at 135 bar and going to run some shot strings when the weather gets better. Mainly shooting hades 15.9 so will tune for those. Hopefully can get some more shots out of my compact.
