Just curious if anyone here has ever received compensation after submitting a damage claim.

I have for a business shipment. I ordered something via Amazon and it shipped via UPS. When UPS delivered the package they delivered to a wrong address in the rain placing the package in a ditch. By the time I located it, the package was thoroughly drenched. I took pictures, called and reported it to UPS, then reported it to Amazon with photos. Amazon took over the UPS claim, compensated me, then went after UPS. Amazon was quick to resolve the issue. That's just one incident. I've had a number of issues with UPS over the years. Dealing directly with UPS concerning claims takes time and a lot of phone calls in my experience.

I was surprised how quickly they responded to the claim. There was some frustration and waiting period to deal with to reach the final resolution. The seller went the extra mile to stay on top of it at his end so that was a big part of the success.
Filing the initial claim on my end was just an email and they appeared to take it seriously so may be worth while.

Thanks for the replys. I think "UPS store packed" and "Amazon" did the trick; but unfortunately, mine was seller packaged. I don't know if it's worth the hassle and frustration to deal with UPS myself.

It may be worth a try. If it turns into a nightmare you can always drop it. I always do the packing myself, which I think creates an additional risk if something happens. Although I don't often do it, it's probably a good idea to take some pictures of the packing process as verification of taking reasonable precautions, and to confirm the contents.

I made a trade with a fellow few years ago he shipped me a FX Boss 30 the package made it to KC, Mo and then disappeared I contacted the seller he did nothing so I contacted The UPS office he shipped from they did a search never found the package an ended up paying me the amount of insurance he put on it took a couple of months but I was reimbursed finally.

Over a number of years I have made claims for damage from fedex, ups and postal service. UPS was the easiest to get a claim paid even though it took about 3months to get resolved. Fedex took over 6 months and numerous statements and discussions, pictures etc and they were just olain unfriendly to deal with. Postal service also took a long time to settle but they were reasonably friendly. I always pack my own rifles and take pictures ( so easy with todays phones) also ask person recieving to takeva pic as soon as item is recieved. Usually rifles need a signature so the pic taken should include the delivery person. In a couple of my claims you could see tire tracks running over the box and the crushed sides so while they were simple claims, they still took a long time to process!!! You need evidence to make a claim, these shippers deal with lots of scammers trying to get some extra money just like we do when buying stuff. If you have a legitiment claim and you have the necessary proof, you will get paid over time, just remember, your not the only person filing a claim, and with millions of pkgs being shipped every day, it does take time to review and sort out all the information about a claim !!!
