Upgrading my 2 Maximus rifles.

Got the challenger trigger and trigger guard on the .177. You have to do alittle dremeling to get the stock and trigger guard to jive, but a very easy and straight forward swap. I did add a second barrel band to this gun to see if it makes any difference? I did remove the lawyer spring and set it single stage at 10.4oz.

Going to get the .22 done tonight after work.

The Maximus uses only 2 valve retention screws like the co2 guns. With a Maximus tube and valve, you are relegated to 2000psi only. Anything above that is outside the safety threshold of the design.

As I posted in another post, it has been said by a reputable Crosman/Benjamin custom builder that the fill assembly is also not safe for more than 2000psi. It is not the same as used on the disco. (Until proven otherwise i will take the word of this builder. Once Crosman releases the parts diagram, we will know for sure.) You would need a disco tube, valve, and fill assembly to safely increase fill pressure on a Maximus.

I bought mine in part because of the lower fill pressure so I have no issue with the design changes to the Maximus versus the Discovery. If I had plans of building one for more power or higher fill pressures I definitely would have bought disco's instead.

I have a feeling that there are a number of people that bought the Maximus for its price with the intentions of hot rodding it only to be disappointed that it isn't safely possible. I hope no one pushes the Maximus to higher fills on a 2 valve screw design. Just not safe!!!

JonahIt is just wrong for anybodies' shop to look that neat and clean, lol!

I work daily in my shop and it is always cleaned up after a job is done. I like being able to find my tools and hate clutter. I also have 3 young kids that are always in the shop and that motivates me to keep stuff picked up.

My old shop was much smaller and always cluttered. I built the new one this spring so that I had a place for all my junk. I actually feel like I have too much room. Lol!!

I have been playing around with 2 barrel bands and just not finding it of any value on the .177. I didn't feel like pulling off the threaded adapter on the .22 so it has remained stock.

I did some shooting today and the .177 prefers 10.3gr JSB'S. Shoots them very well. Glad, as my FWB loves the 10.3's and I just bought a bunch of them recently.

The .22 shoots 14.3gr Crosman's better than anything else. Surprisingly it doesn't matter if they are boxed or tins?
