Upgrading crossman phantom 1000.

So this may seem stupid to some people, but i know I am not the only one who loves springers. I have never actually shot a pcp or co2 air rifle so that may be why.

Anyway, the reason I am posting is to introduce myself to everyone and to ask some advice from any of you springer shooters out there. I have a crossman phantom 1000 that i love, but i feel like i can get more out of it. I use it for squirrel, groundhog, and rabbit hunting as well as pest bird anahilation (starlings drive me crazy!). I have killed starlings out to 60yds but i feel like that is about the limit. I dont know it is beyond my limit or beyond the limit of the rifle but i would like to know what you guys would recommend to increase the accuracy and range of my rifle. If i could get out to 75 - 85yds i would be a very happy hunter.

Any advice would be appreciated. And if there are any airgunners in central Ky who are looking for shooting buddies feel free to let me know!

H0rizonfire: if you're taking starlings at 60 yards, I'd say you're doing all right! What are your expectations? If your gun has never been apart, you could hone the air cylinder, add a new seal (and maybe a new spring), and give it a whirl. Frankly, I have doubts as to wether you would get any appreciable gains though. I have found freshening up a gun like this can often yield increases of 20 to 50 FPS (average), but I haven't had a gun yield better results, unless there was something SERIOUSLY WRONG with it, meaning not shooting harder than half it's rated velocity (which is not the case with your gun if you're smashing small targets at long range). There are companies that make "hop-up" kits (Vortek and the like), but I doubt you'll be upping the actual velocity into the 1000FPS or more range.
