Update to the Cabela's airgun section

So, today I was just looking around for a cheaper scope to put on an air rifle I picked up a few weeks ago( a crosman model 140,it is a multi pump single shot .22 cal air rifle). Anyways I was on the Cabela's website, and you know how it is almost impossible to stay in only the intended section of the site. I happend to go to the airgun section of the site, and they have a bit more than last time. Like now they have a few pre-charged BSA rifles and also the gamo coyote pcp rifle. Here's the link to it if you want to check for your self.

Here (Buda, Texas) they have a good many break guns--Gamo, Benjamin, Umarex etc. Demo models too. The person who helped me said their customers go back to the boxes, look at the one with the highest alleged FPS, and buy it. Many never talk to any staff. . So they are making good money with little investment in labor. And I do not know what you are finding--but the outlet here is huge and there are maybe twenty people shopping when I am there in the early evening. Put it this way--you never have to wait to check out.

What Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops needs to do is relocate all of the airguns to the same counter as firearms and have someone dedicated to manning the airguns counter so they can provide customers with answers to questions as well educate people that the high 1200-1400 FPS is marketing bull and the lower FPS rifles are much more accurate and useful. Would love to see them expand into higher end rifles as well and expand their pellets offerings to include JSB and H&N.

Chances are the cheap pellets and hyper speed Gamo and Crosman/Benji probably out sell all the high end guns and premium pellets combined. The chains are into making money not educating and selling quality. Just a thought?

However, I get your point and agree, but not going to be a reality.
