Unhappy Benjamin Titan

I’ve noticed the last couple of times I’ve shot my 22 cal Titan there has been a very noticeable metal on metal noise at the end of the stroke when fired. This afternoon I needed my mind to be on something else. Tomorrow I get the results from my oncologist on a Pet scan I had on Tuesday. My first Pet scan 3 months after finishing treatment was equivocal so fingers crossed.

We are also moving from our property to a new place 5 minutes from where we fish, it’s very nice. Also there is a shooting range 4 minutes down the road.

I digress. I have a few spare piston seals from Customairseals, so I pulled it apart and you can see the seal in the last two photos is damaged. Noticeably scarred from slamming into the end of the compression chamber. Put it all together and it’s now very quiet. It really is very quiet. I’ll site it in tomorrow morning before going to the big smoke.

I've been occasionally unhappy with an air rifle but the company sending it to me takes it back and gives another one--kind of rare for me but in AOA and Pyramid and Air Venturi or other the problem was quickly solved.

I've not taken apart an air rifle since 1969 and all air rifles I've ended up with from air rifle dealers have been superb and up to the standard I expect each model to stand up to.

I hope you go to the people who make your rifle and ask them to fix it.

That seems the best way.

Kindly,

John

I had one of these a long time ago. It shot smooth and was surprisingly accurate enough to engage starlings from a standing position at 35 yards. Glad to see yours restored.
Thanks, it’s still shooting very well. This rifle was the one I used in the 100 yard golf ball challenge a couple of years back which I hit the golf ball on my second shot. It’s is one of my favourite hunters and plinkers.
The only issue I have with it is that i can fit a scope that I have mechanically centred and then have to move the windage turret all the way to the left. Which makes the scope change poi frequently. I’ve tried shimming but that still creates issues. I could bend the barrel but I really don’t want to do that. I could buy a Sportsmatch scope mount that is adjustable for windage and elevation but they cost as much as 2 thirds of what I payed for the rifle. I’ll continue to put up with these little problems as she shots very accurately most of the time.:)
