The Umarex Hamner is Real and its Here!!

Though I haven't seen anything official from Umarex, I spied this post from Pyramyd Air on IG. "The first shipment of @umarexairguns Hammer .50 cal rifles has come in and shipped out to customers and I just got confirmation that more are on the way! We’ve got a lot of backorders to go through, but I’m pleased to see these starting to make it out there. Handling the rifle, it feels solid and I can’t wait to get one out on the range!

Is anybody on the waiting list or looking forward to wrangling this .50 caliber unicorn?

Now if it could just expell a huge cloud of smoke when it goes off. Ahhh, those were the days. I assume you will be able to get extra air bottles for it ? The .510 cal. Is that a custom size caliber? I don't recall my 50cal muzzle loaders being that size. So you would have to buy their exclusive ammo or have custom molds ,"which ain't cheap" made. Or pay to have someone make the custom size ammo for the purpose you intend to use it for. I saw only 1 kind of bullet, a sabot round with no specs,on the Umarex site. Did they farm out the ammo making to be produced to NSA or similar company?

At this point, the only things I am liking over other guns (especially the Texans) is the two shot magazine and the price point. I'm personally looking at the new Texan Carbine CF with the TX2 valve. When it comes down to it, I don't need 700+ foot pounds. I hunt deer and hogs in tight quarters in the South Georgia swamps, where you can't even see 100 yards, let alone get a shot that far. The adjustability of the Carbine CF means I can get more shots at the power range I need (say 400-500) out of a lighter gun that can more easily be handled in the heavy brush. Now if it just had a magazine.

It's too bad they let all their competitors (AirForce and Hatsan) catch up. I wonder how much besides price has changed? Is it regulated? I'd rather have two perfectly the same unregulated shot than three regulated. A 250 bar fill with two shots is better than a 300 bar with three shots.

How does this work out mathematically? Once your bottle fill pressure goes below 300 bar, you ‘lose’ one regulated shot, but will still have 2 regulated shots vs. 2 unregulated shots.
So how are the unregulated shots ‘better’ in your opinion. (I’m not claiming the regulated shots are better, but I don’t see them being worse either...)

It's a .510 which is the same as 500 Nitro Express. Very common lead round. Easier to find than lead non sabot 50cal muzzleloader ammo from what I've seen. Same caliber as the 50cal Texan and I imagine the piledriver is using the same as well. You'll be able to find them easily. Read it's a fixed bottle and non removable.

There competitors did not catch up. AirForce was FIRST to market so Hatsan and Umarex had to catch up! ;)

We waited so long for the Hammer that I don't think many will buy it now? I wonder why it took so long and because it did, I have a hard time believing that why they didn't launch it on time may still be an issue? I think perhaps Boeing will have a better chance of selling its 737 aircraft than Umarex will selling this problematic airgun? Once, I would have stepped up and been one of the first buyers, but not now. I'll wait and see if my concerns are warranted? Might as well? The thrill is gone!

Consider that some of the delay ***speculation follows*** may have been intentional. By ground breaking a whole new class of air gun, UMAREX may have felt that they were putting a target on their back and wanted to avoid being the only company with such a product. By holding off until there were a few other comparable guns slated for release, they spread the risk around. ****Speculation only, based on nothing but wild ideas and a lack of sleep****

Regulators cost $, they fail, they work differently with different temperatures. I just think I would be better to have the gun unregulated tuned to have two shots the same, than regulated with three shots at 300 bar or two shot at 250bar. I never understood why they wanted to regulate a gun with this much power. You can only fill the gun to full 300bar one time. I suppose if you really needed one extra shot for Hunting...
