Umarex APX .177 (Take 2)

Here is a video review I did on one of my refurbished Umarex APX rifles. I picked the rifle that gave me the highest velocities during Chronograph testing. I didn't video any of the Chronograph work so it isn't included.

The highest fps I could get was around 600 using Gamo PBA Raprtor 5.4gr pellets. fps with "the one", Crosman Wadcutter 7.4gr, averaged about 555 yielding about 5fpe.

Good review. Thanks for the work and sharing. I agree about the safety being different but I've learned to like it too. The trigger is a bear though. If the gun were heavier the trigger wouldn't bother me so much, but because it's so light I need to really focus on how I pull the trigger so I don't pull the barrel to the side. I think you pretty well covered it all. Definitely the price makes it fun to play with and not be too concerned about the environment it is used in. I do think that your guns are shooting low power compared to mine, but I don't have a chrono, so maybe I'm just being optimistic. PA's website lists 800fps as the max velocity. Other reviews I've watched showed around 630fps as their max (I'd typed 730 originally, but I corrected it after watching the video again). I think that is closer to what I'm shooting with 8gr pellets. I'm sure the 16gr pellets are much lower. I shot 16gr JSB pellets and they buried in a wood plank about 1/4in. at 10 yards. At 50 yards I was hitting a 1.5in spinner reliably and actually spinning the target, so it still had some power behind it.

I think that this was the review that I watched before I bought this gun:

I'm planning on taking apart the other one I have. Going to see if anything can be done to improve it. I may have had better success on the spinners if I had zeroed at 50 or used a holdover scope. Those were magnum rim fire spinners and I didn't expect the .177 to get much movement. If it isn't raining when I get home I'll try to film my .25 marauder hitting them for comparison. With the ease it pumps, compared to my Benjamin 347, I'm not surprised it has less power.
