Tuxing double cylinder pcp air compressor - taking the plunge.

@centercut, I used the full synthetic compressor oil from Homedepot. I am quite sure mine was brand new, not refurbished. Inspected very carefully but who knows.

Sorry about the issue with yours, just one month a way from EBR. Too bad that you quit after all that efforts put into this thing. Do you think it's worth to contact the seller for warranty? I guess @josoo is one of the vendors on the bay that may help if contact him?

.... The gasket is a bit smaller than the grove on the plate and i tried all tricks i can think of but no luck. It was still leaking oil quite a bit.....

I have the same problem with my Yong Heng. What I have done is stretching the gasket by hand and put it in place before it shrinks back to the original size. I will avoid removing the cover in the future.

Well, I've decided that this Tuxing isn't going to kick my butt, so I decided I'd give it a few hours more since as a lot of you had noticed, I put a lot of time in this project. Based on @Tutuan, I e-mailed @josoo, who apparently works for Tuxing in some way, shape or form. He e-mailed back within a day, with this response:

Hey sir,

I have almost the same opinion as you. It might be the electrical problem. Here is the experience from the customers : 20amp (or a little bit more ) 120v power supply will be needed for proper operation (outlets are only 15amp sometimes will trip or fail)

Solve ways:

(1) Try to press the protection switch to see if it can recover again.

(2) The electrical line maybe not connect correctly or it is something wrong about the switch.

(3)Unplug the electrical line and plug it again to see if there is somewhere loosen ( not connect well)

Do not worry, I will send one electrical controller free to you to have a try.

And give me your contact information, if it still can not operate it, I will arrange to send the electrical controller box to you.

If it is running and some problems you can send video to [email protected]

Have a nice day!!!

Well, stupid me, as much as I've been around this thing, never noticed the "reset" button on the controller that sits on top of the motor. I don't think this has totally fixed the problem, since it runs for 15 or 20 minutes, then trips again. I'll install the new electrical controller when I get it and post again. Props to @josoo for the quick and accurate customer support!

You probably know this Mike but a 20amp breaker is only rated at 80% full load and 14 gauge wire is rated 15amp. So the wire is going to get hot and pop the breaker.

I got one of the cheap ones (twin cylinder) last week and have more time wrenching on it than running it. I told them to send a replacement and upgrade it or send the prepaid shipping label and refund my money.

Good luck

Dennis

@2D1C, yeah, but I've been running it from this same outlet all Summer long, and neither the cord, nor the outlet got warm, and the GFCI never popped. All of a sudden its acting weird, just stopping and stalling in the middle of a fill, so I'd turn it off, wait ten minutes, then go again. This has been going on for about a month. Then this week is just flat out stopped after running about 35 minutes, filling a tank from about 1800 psi and the motor just stopped at about 3600 psi. So I'm pretty sure its not my outlet, since when this happened, the cooling system (fans and water pump) kept running. I think the controller is gradually going bad, I reset the pop out breaker on the controller early this morning and ran it for about 20 minutes filling a tank before it popped again. I'm sure my neighbors love me, at 0530 in the morning. ;) I'm going to try the new controller when @josoo gets it to me, hopefully that's the problem (I think it is). Other than that, its run great ever since I got it, and my mods to the unit keep the temp under 60C even when filling on my back porch in Summer. More to follow... PS., I had plugged the entire unit into a amp meter, and it never got over 13.8 amps, even at 4500 psi.

Make sure the wires to the motor are of the same size from the electrical source as the actual motor wires. My single cylinder had much smaller wires from the switch to the actual motor wires because the switch and it's wires were to small and cheap for the job. I rewired with an electrical motor rated switch screwed into an electrical box and used bigger wire from the switch to the motor wires so as not to allow any choking of current flow. Got the switch from Lowes. Forget the price but very inexpensive. Working great so far. Best of luck for a hasty resolve, Bill

Mike.

I remember that you added an extra earth wire to your circuit. Are you sure that it is required? Any electrical appliance that is sold in this country that does not have an earth pin on the power plug, must be double insulated. I'm assuming that the states have similar regulations. If this is the case, You don't need the redundant earth wire. It probably has nothing to do with your tripping problems but it might be something to look into.

That was exactly what i did. I even heated it up with heatgun but still not fit.

That's awesome. Kudos to @josoo for promptly help

Right, the ground wire is redundant for safety. It's the mandatory safety code here in the US.

"Looks good to me... That's the standard Tuxing "gold" filter with an insert for filter media. Good price. Which compressor do you have? There are two "gold filters, the Tuxing and the XIN YONG SHI. I (and Humdinger) both feel that they are both good quality safe filters, but the XIN YONG SHI is slightly better designed and constructed. That doesn't mean the Tuxing is bad, it certainly is good and the differences are minor. If you want the XIN YONG SHI version just look on AliExpress, I've seen them for $59 for base version with just the cotton tampon filter media, but you'd need to buy the Zeolite 13X.

My compressor has got to the point where it only runs a couple of minutes before the controller electrical protection button pops. Luckily @josoo has shipped repair parts from China.

See below. Tracking number provided.

Mike,

We have already shipped the package to you yesterday. It includes power switch + protection switch + electrical controller box

Tracking number is: LY732603094CN

Centercut - What's your opinion of this filter setup for a PCP compressor?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/4500psi-pcp-air-compressor-Oil-Water-diving-Filter-300bar-L350mm-OD49mm-ID36mm/223087008588?epid=4021212629&hash=item33f1059b4c

looks like it covers all the bases, but doesn't give much in the way of specs. Just curious

You can order this same filter setup on Aliexpress instead of Ebay and get it for $76 and it will ship out from California, not China. However, if you order it and have it shipped from China you can choose a cartridge with desiccant only instead of the 3 types of filter material in the one pictured on Ebay. The silica is clear and a waste of space as it does not change color when moistened, nor does it hold as much mositure as the zeolite tan beads. Unless your air is for breathing the carbon is a waste of space too. The only benefit from carbon is if your compressor is putting out lots of odor from oil vapor. Here's the link:
