tuning discusson

LDP. Great information. Thank you. It really helps in the learning curve. FoxMan. Yes I will be at EBR. Looking forward to meeting up with you. I'm not sure how to tighten up the SD. I'm going to give it another go with the understanding of information that LDP has explained. If the wider spread SD is a characteristic of the Crown it might be something for Earnest to work his magic on. Sylvan

Using the information that I got from LDP, I've started a spreadsheet laying out the reg pressure starting at 125 bar and measuring the hammer spring position with a digital caliper.
I'm building a table to graph the fps, ES,SD to determine the knee/plateau. So far, im in the middle of it and it seems exactly as Master LDP has described. LDP, I owe you at least one beer!

Bob, what are your intentions with the .22 Crown as far as pellet, speed and FPE? I'm currently waiting for AoA to get the B liners in for the Crown in .22 with 500 mm barrels. Not currently in stock, despite what their web site may show. The A liner doesn't shoot the 25.4 grain RD Monsters very well, and its hard to get them to a decent speed without additional modifications. Maybe 840 or 850 FPS tops. Not sure what reg pressure for that, should be around 140 to 150 bar to get that. May need to get a barrel transfer port from a .25 Crown to get 880 to 890 FPS with the RD Monsters (or a longer barrel). Anyone going this route?

Cc,

What I would like to do with the Crown next summer is have a slug gun....Neilson 21gr at the heaviest, around 910fps. I'm hoping in the next few months there will be some data on what speed is optimal for the different weights that Neilson has. My slug liner is on pre-order.

Until then I will just shoot the JSB 18gr pellet at whatever speed is stable, but prefer it on the higher end of the range....maybe 880 fps.
