Tripod recommendations.

Sits in the yard half the time, survived some big rains, yet still operates with like new suppleness. Slik tripods have come a long way since my first one back when days. Hog Saddle guys have a Slik custom green model.

Dubs, You just bought an M3. What's your point buying a tripod "on the cheap(er)" that will support any less than the full potential of the M3?

Patrick

I'll be using it primarily for hunting. I don't want to spend a ton of money on my first tripod. I'd rather start out with something cheaper to see what I like, what I don't like, do I really need it? Basically the same reason I didn't spend a lot of money on my first air rifle.

BTW...below is a tripod I have owned for about 35 years, Leitz Tiltall, made in New Jersey. Bought used from a friend. Needed something beefier for shooting 4x5 cameras, hassys, &c. Still use it nowadays for the chrony. Not as versatile, as the legs don't splay. But another tripod I owned, a Bogen (pre-Manfrotto), can prolly be found used for decent prices. Having (ab)used my new Slik 700 just over a year, am pretty confident I will receive years of service from it. Check out the the Hog Saddle guys. I prolly going upgrade my MLOK Arca plate with theirs, soon. ATB, Mark
