Traveling with an air rifle

Hi

new here and I’m traveling from the US to the UK soon and am wondering if anyone has any experience with taking an air rifle there? I have a Weihrauch hw95 Luxus - brand new. I wasn’t planning on having to move so I was never thinking about transport when I bought it! (Which was 2 months ago!) - any help appreciated. From the looks of things it might raise a few eyebrows at customs!

I traveled to the UK for a field target competition. To bring my gun I needed an invitation from the competition committee. Evidence of your new address and proof of employment is a good place to start.

You also need to know that all rifles in the UK that are sold to the general public have anti tamper devices to dissuade power mods. As a side, 12fpe is considered illegal. 11.9fpe is legal. If your guns can be adjusted above 11.9fpe you'll need a FAC license.

Considering this, your best bet is to leave or sell your guns here and buy used there. The British used market is chock full of fantastic, amazing and unavailable to the US airguns.

The suggestion to speak with a Brit is a good one. The Shooting the Breeze forum is AGN of Great Britan. You may want to join.

GB is loaded with airgun clubs and shops as well. You'll be shooting in no time. Good luck and have fun.
