Travel to Europe

In England if your gun goes over 12fpe at the least you will be disqualified for the day's competition, If you can't get it back under 12fpe you will be dq'd from the event. I can't tell you about how law enforcement would be involved though. Your best bet is to bring a gun that cannot be adjusted from the outside and try to have it in the 11fpe range in case the power creeps up a bit in travel.

what I can tell you from experience going to Worlds WFTF Championships in 2019 in England....you better make sure that the first country you hit outside the USA and have to go through customs (as in my case Scotland before the next flight to England), says its OK to import airguns/firearms through their country without a permit or paperwork. The customs officers in Scotland wanted my importation paperwork, and proof the rifle was under 12 fpe, and papers from the event I was shooting at. I had the invitation letter from the event, my already filled out Dept of Homeland Security USCIS " certificate of registration for personal effects taken abroad (CBP4457)...this saves you from paying taxes when coming back home with your gun and scope and attachments, when you hit USA CBP officers. Lucky for me, I am a retired PO and had credentials and old Police patches (dont leave home without em) and after bs"ing about cop stuff and passing out patches, I was on my way with a " be safe brother ". I got lucky and a lesson was learned. To get the CBP4457 signed I took the form I printed from the web and wrote down my rifle, scope and hamster info, then took my boxed up rifle into the closest airport with CBP and requested them to sign and stamp it. They had no clue what to do, they looked at the guns and scopes to confirm the serial numbers, and said cool guns, and signed and stamped it. Keep the form forever when travelling abroad with your kit. Every country is different and changes depending on current presidents, etc. For example Colombia was good a couple years ago for a gringo to come into their country with an air rifle to shoot a competition, nut now they have a new President and gringos nor anyone can bring in any guns. Hope that helps ya....BC
