Trans Atlantic Love Child

I have an RAW HM1000x that I have fitted with Theoben parts to get the best of both the US and the UK

Theoben MFR stock and prototype MFR regulator, 280cc MFR bottle.
LW match grade .20 barrel and Theoben .20 probe.

Lightened hammer with longer silent pip and custom SSG device for sorter travel and faster lock time

Custom high efficiency PEEK valve

Reduced valve and prechamber volume for better consistency

PTFE hammer support sleeve for reduced friction and better hammer/valve alignment

Custom carbon shroud.

Along with I modification have made what I consider to be the best block and fitting it into the best stock, with the best barrel in the best calibre, has given me my “ideal” airgun.

That’s a badass looking air gun. Short & sexy! Your hybrid sure looks awesome! I’ve never had the pleasure of shooting a Theobin or Hybrid, but would love to soon.

Bucket, I know you are a Theobin/RAW lover. I have a .25 HM1000x LRT, when I bought it, I also got a .35 hammer spring. My gun shoots the 33.95MKII very accurately at 925fps, more HS & the shot cycle gets nasty. I’ve always wanted to use the .35 hammer spring for when I test slugs, I can get higher velocities. With the RAW though, I’m sure you know, if you turn up the stock hammer spring, the shot cycle gets pretty rough. Is there any way to use the .35 hammer spring or other parts to increase the velocity for slugs without messing up the shot cycle? I’m assuming the answer is NO to the HS but thought you might know a trick or two using some other custom parts. I don’t have a regulator tester, so I don’t want to turn the reg. up any higher. I don’t even know where it’s set right now which is a huge disadvantage tuning this gun using the regulator. It’s very accurate from about 870-960fps with the MKII’s. My hammer spring is set about in the middle. I’d love to hear some about the HS and other parts that would make this gun “better” Have a great weekend and thanks in advance. Stoti

P.S. I’ve already tried the Rapid Website(UK) but as you know, anything dealing with power upgrades or increased velocity is a no no, so I didn’t get much help. You know this stuff, so I thought I’d ask you

Thanks.

The reason why it becomes nasty when you increase hammer load is because it causes the valve to open to far and it bottoms out bouncing back sending horrible vibration through the block and ruining accuracy.

There are a few upgrades you can try that will increase velocity but you will also need to adjust your reg (you don’t need a tester, simply unscrew the blanking plug in the bottom of the block) Depending on how old you 1000x is , there are slightly different valves, the newer brass valve can be gas flowed to allow better air transfer from the front port of the valve body, to the top transfer port, do this with a burr in a dremel. The older stainless steel valves need more extensive alterations.

Installing a small plenum into the bottom blanking plug will increase volume as will a Huma reg

On the front of the hammer there is a pip that strikes the valve, if the pip is cut shorter, it allows the hammer to attain more speed with a weaker spring, don’t cut it too short as it will over ride the trigger sear and jam up. Unfortunately I can’t give exact length as this is determined by the valve.

I don’t like the RAW pellet probe much, it seals in the breech ok but not in the bolt wasting high pressure air sapping power I replace mine with a modified Theoben probe that is fitted with a o ring to form a seal. Also reduce the Dia of the tip of the inner probe, give it a polish.

Air can also escape through the valve location o ring into the counterbore and refit the grubscrew.

All these little improvements add up. I maxed out a .30 at 135fpe and a .357 at 165fpe so the RAW is capable of high power....shot count was sh1t though😁

the new R7OC is a bit more tolerant of power related questions in the FAC/ RAW sections

Always wondered what a Theoben Rapid sidelever would be like!

How did you modify that MFR stock to fit the 1000X action? I know the standard 1000 non "x" series should drop right in.

The only slight modification was to remove a small piece of material near the trigger pocket and where the bottom blanking plug fits.

The side lever is more comfortable, easier to cock, smoother and better for target shooting, however, the Theoben bolt definitely feels more solid particularly when out hunting

Very nice. Would look nice next to my rapid.

Just 1 rapid, how is that even possible? You have more will power than me, I have 6

I have special needs. Must be total lefty stack and action.. working on it. Talked to Allen a few days ago.

very nice mk2👍

It’s clever the way AZ fits a shroud over a 400cc bottle

Ooh Shambozzie, I’m a lefty too. That’s an awesome looking air gun! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a completely left handed version like yours! Everything about it is beautiful.

Thank you Bucketboy. Exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to know about. I totally understand what you’re saying, especially about the bolt probe. I had a real heck of a time adjusting mine because the grub screws on both sides were so tight, I couldn’t get either to move without substantial effort. When I did get it adjusted correctly, it definitely helped but still didn’t seem like the best fit and...I scratched the bolt probe while adjusting it. I had used a piece of cardboard under an old rag but still left small scrape marks. Are these parts fairly easy to obtain? The modified bolt probe, plenum, etc... I’ll definitely look into what you’ve told me and see what I can do...without needing to ask you more questions. lol

Again, thank you for the thorough response. I really appreciate it. Have a great weekend!
