Tough decisions .25 Taipan veteran compact or Edgun Leyla 2.0

Man oh man this is a tuff one...I am stuck between the .25 Taipan Veteran compact and the Edgun Leyla 2.0....both Guns have great reviews and both are perfect in terms of size and Accuracy....The Taipan veteran compact is a few hundred dollars cheaper But the Leyla 2.0 is one sexy little Bitch with an Amazing body with Curves for days...please forgive my verbal description but I'm sure alot of you guys will agree...

I talked to tony at talon tunes and asked a few questions about the .25 Taipan veteran compact...My biggest concern is Accuracy of course and Quietness! He told me that its super Quiet and i can shot in my backyard all day long....I also talked to Brian over at Edgun West and to be totally honest i feel like Brian is more Business orientated & gives off cool vibe....I Currently own a R5 Matador.30 Standard so i am about the Quality of Edgun's Products...super easy to work on and is built like a freaking Tank!! Not sure about the Taipan veteran compact as i never own or shot one before....So any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated..

 Leyla all the way

No doubt they’re both nice airguns. As you know I just purchased a .22 R5m standard and it is my favorite of all the airguns I have bought. I like the cocking lever and its accuracy. I have owned mutants, wildcats, and crickets but for some reason I enjoy the Edgun more. I bet there’s not a nickels difference in the accuracy I think it will just boil down to your preference. One thing I didn’t mention was the stock and I guarantee the quality and looks of my R5m can’t be beat.

Good luck with your tough decision.

Nobody has mentioned the way better trigger of the Taipan Vet yet. It is a dream, and ultimately adds to its' precision, and its' shooting pleasure.

I've owned both brands, I've only held onto my Taipans. My .25 Short is my go to grab gun.

My .25 Long is my long range gun of choice.

You also have R&L or GeorgiaAirGuns for Taipan dealers.

I've spoken at length and bought from Matt at R&L,

AND Charlie from GeorgiaAirGuns.

They're both fantastic guys to deal with .

I am sure both guns are great, I own a 25 Veteran,

What is the weight difference

The price difference

I like the synthetic stocks, I do not think Ed gun has this???

Power, FPS, It matters when moving up to the heavy lead.

Oh trigger, I think the Veteran is untouchable here.

Just some questions that pop up,

Good luck, No way to go wrong with these to guns.

I have both the edgun lelya 2,0 in 25 and I own the Taipan veteran std in 22 .

I can tell you both guns are great both have most same features ok here goes , this is why had to get both

LOU

Taipan veteran std .22 lelya 2.0 .25

best trigger I have seen in a pcp rugged

very accurate light,great to carry

well machined very accurate

2 mags and slug tray simple to strip down

lots of power more then most great shot count

cons more fpe then most

a bit loud in .22

2 factors I'll cover

In terms of sound I will say this, it is harder to quiet down the Lelya 25 than it is the Taipan 25 shorty at both their highest settings. The same is true for both in terms of moderators screwed on and tuning down the power. They're both great for being compact and accurate just sharing my experience that wth trying to put a muzzle on things in 25 cal, the Taipan has the advantage. Some say Edgun is already quiet but I'm telling you... Quiet is subjective and having shot both this is the honest fact. Taipan is easier to quiet down and my right ear never really rang the way it does with my Lelya. Not that it won't get any better but that's just where the Lelya was out of the box. I haven't touched the HST yet which I have to get to by removing the stock on the Lelya. The Taipans you can access while keeping the stock on. Not a biggie just good to know.

Now the trade off is alot of what others have said about the trigger being best on the Taipan. I agree. It's pretty amazing out of the box.

So, if you can get used to the side lever in the rear go with and stay with the Taipan. They are both trouble free for the most part and both are accurate.

If you want faster follow up shots while staying on target then get the Lelya, and live with that trade off. I myself am trying to explore other ways to quiet down my Edgun to be more like my Veteran with a Sumo ldc. Having put an Emperor ldc on the Lelya which looks like a Maglite flashlight, the Taipan is still quieter with the Sumo. My next step is to put felt in the EGW baffle system that cost me 130 ish bucks just to be able to use my donnyfl moderators that do make a difference . The EGW baffles are not plastic like the OEM baffles so it makes the sound more metallic and high pitch. But, I'm going to also try and paint liquid rubber inside the EGW baffle system as well. I've heard from others that doing so works to change to a lower pitch sound. That's where I'm at right now. I still yearn for the feel of the Taipan trigger in all honesty because it really is that good. Not that the edgun isn't also very good, it is just not Taipan good, YET.

Now when you approach all these things in terms of cost of ownership then things start to really weigh in and making the best decision based on what your goals are with these two setups becomes easier to do. So in terms of tough challenging decisions I also like to remember this, "A challenge clearly defined is a challenge that is half solved."

I also have the .25 Vet and the rifle is amazing and as mentioned before the best trigger available. The Vet is very easy to adjust the hammer spring as opposed to the Ed Gun you have to take to stock off. The regulator in the Vet is also amazing for the Ed Gun people are already replacing theirs with Huma's. Also the Ed Gun cost $400.00 more and another $100.00 for a new regulator. Vet all the way.
