Tough Decision

I’ve been shooting long distance with slugs lately. I have my .25 Daystate Safari dialed in with 33.5g slugs. I received the gun with it turned up. Shoots 33g JSB’s unbelievably accurate at about 940 ft/sec. My .30 is still stock tune and although it’s very accurate with 44g JSB’s, it not as consistent with slugs. Slugs would probably be better if I tuned it for more speed. Here’s the problem. Was going to order a programmer, then some sneak previews of the Delta Wolf came out on the forum. Doesn’t appear the Delta Wolf needs a programmer, looks like you can do it from the screen. Do I wait and sell the .30, save the money on the programmer and get a Delta? Can’t have both, I have too many guns as it is. An good ideas?

@smitty8141 I agree with @odoyle you should sell before the new model hits the market. It will require some suffering while you wait for the Delta Wolf, but you gain an economical advantage. And yes, Chuck is right...lockdown in UK has slowed somethings down, but I think the Daystate facility is still open, it isn’t a lockdown to the scale they had in Spring, but I would had a month or two delay.

I had the same idea smitty and regret not having my Red Wolf anymore. I shouldn’t have sold mine. Unfortunately I sold my 2 Uragans too.. I assumed I could pick one of the used DWs over the winter from someone, but that doesn’t even look promising. The guys in the know in the US said that they thought Dec seemed most realistic for getting them even with thoughts of Nov just a while back. And I did ask about the wait list at AoA... they said it would be at least March or April if you aren’t already on the list. Also, I do think the lockdown is going to be like Spring. Remember lockdowns were only of 1 month at a time then too, even when they knew it would be several. It is up to you, but if you want to shoot your sweet shooter for a while longer, I wouldn’t get rid of it yet. I also think the used price on the Red Wolfs is about as low as it can go for a good while.

My regret is buying my Red Wolf. Wish I had waited for the delta, though I had no way of knowing it was coming. The cost of a RW plus programmer plus chronograph is probably what the DW costs. And having to take the RW out of the stock to re-program it is a big drawback. Now if Daystate would just add a button to wake the gun up that would be a huge improvement. I’ve dropped shots in FT due to it going to sleep so often and me in the habit of waking it up and firing without a pellet loaded. Also bad design for hunters. Imagine walking though the woods, seeing your prey, and then either having to cycle the bolt a couple times or snap the safety on and off to wake the gun up.

I’m going to give AOA a call tomorrow, see the wait and probably get on the wait list. Since I don’t need to tune my .25 Safari, I can do without the programmer. @qball - it’s a never ending list. Every time my gun collection is set, something comes out. Lol. Thanks everyone for the information. The wait shouldn’t be a problem, winter is almost here so I don’t do as much shooting Dec - Mar. Thanks again for the help.

Bear in mind you guys are comparing an already proven excellent rifle platform to a new bullpup.

Many shooters possibly most have an easier time hitting their targets with traditional style rifle configurations compared to bullpups versions.

I have a much easier (and much more comfortable) time hitting things with my Redwolfs as compared to my Pulsars.

.

Funny you said that. That is the one draw back for me, I much prefer a standard rifle platform. I have never gotten used to bench resting a bullpup. Guess it’s time to learn.
I pulled the trigger today and got on the long list of people waiting for the Delta from AOA. They said they are expecting them in March or April.

I think the Delta Wolf is going to be a great gun . The best news for most of us is when it eventually hits the ground there are going to be lots of used FX impacts available (used).
I like Daystate guns but I’m not spending all that money or waiting all that time . I could maybe handle one or the other but both? Turns me off but I do understand that we live in challenging times

Man I have no use for an impact or the delta wolf, but if I did, the delta wolf would for sure be the gun I would buy no doubt. Even knowing I have pretty much no use for it, I still kinda want one. Cant believe living here in Colorado there are no big air gun shops, probably a good thing though, as iam sure if I got my hands on it, I could find a “ need”.

Well that’s bad news. I’ve been on the waiting list since February already. Looks like it wil be a year+

I think he means March or April if you get on the list now. That is what they told me too. They expect the first batch before then.
