Torque driver/wrench?

I went through a bit of exhaustive comparisons and research not too long ago. I already had a little 1/4” ratchet from Pedros (rebranded), but I needed something larger and recently purchased a 3/8” from Pro Bike Tool. The nice thing about this is that it’s made in Taiwan like the Pedros, and it will torque in reverse too for left hand threads such as in installing some cranksets on bicycles.

I’ve read some so-so reviews on the box store brand’s such as Home Depot and Lowe’s. They don’t measure in reverse, and the warranty’s fine print show weakness. I recall them being built in China too.

I don’t own a Gearwrench torque wrench, but I own other Grearwrench tools, and I would recommend them too based on merit alone.

Some brands will include a test (calibration) card to show you what the actual readings are on the wrench when tested. My 3/8” wrench was remarkably close.

A zero to 12 or 25 inch pound beam or click screwdriver handle should be adequate. To make it work you will need a selection of allen, and torx bits to fit the drive end of the torque wrench. and the socket heads of the scope mounts. Harbor Freight, NAPA, SnapOn, the choice is yours. Go easy - two or three stages of torque is a good approach...work your way up to a torque that will hold.

Buck in Willcox.

I know that this is somewhat expensive, but it is made in USA and has worked extremely well for me so far....

Bought from: The Harry J. Epstein Co.

This probably cost more now as its been more than a year since my purchase. I also bought a small set of Wiha allen heads to use with for torqueing every screw on my rifle where needed.

I second SK Tools. I have a breaker bar by them, which I am never concerned about breaking.

I would suggest buying local like at your local NAPA and get the tools that carry a NO BS LIFETIME WARRANTY and keep your receipt safe. Woulda recommended Sears Craftsman who USED TO BE NO BS till they started going belly up. Home Depot and Wal-Mart are full of it when it comes to lifetime warranty stuff.

If you have a SNAP ON dealer there then they are THE BEST.

AND MOST EXPENSIVE.

I use the wheeler wrench also, but here’s another option from Brownells
