Took the sig asp to the range today

Nice 75 yard groups ! Is that with the 10.5 gr pellets?

THanks again. I'll argue the 75 groups at least match the 50...

This is the pellet..

Do those have a head size rating on the back of the can. Your Sig ASP20 is probably popping them out at 920-930 fps ?

4.5

Wow ! That is a small head Glen. Looks like you found the right pellet for the .177cal Sig.

Funny thing is the sig isn't too pellet sensitive for me. It seems to shoot most pellets very well...however the pellets it doesnt like look like shotgun scatter. It's so obvious with the few it doesnt like. The ones it did I almost had to toss a coin as to which I would buy in bulk...

I had that shotgun experience with some pellets in my Sig. The Sig ASP20 in .177cal is a wicked with that heavy pellet. Ever try different brands in that weight range?

Yes. I tried MANY MANY MANY brands, sizes, weights, etc. I dont actually recall exactly why I chose this one. It was basically a toss up between many different ones. I narrowed it to like 3, and opted for this one. Maybe availability played a part. I dont exactly recall, but this pellet treated me well!!

The Sigs power plant in .177cal is made for that heavier pellet. The .22cal version likes the 15-16 gr.

I can purchase a 20 for 500 with the hawk scope, what do you all think of this deal

$500 for a used rifle you can’t get parts for? $560 gets you a HW90 shipped from Krale.

Agreed. I could name a ton of guns that one could pick up in lieu of the asp20....but I do love mine and over 17,000 pellets in it still locks up as if brand new and delivers 21FPE with only around 30 pounds cocking effort. The 46 lb cocking effort of the hw90 would make it a gun I wouldn't shoot like I do my asp. Yesterday at the range I put a at least a hundred pellets down range...many at 50 and 75. I then put a few hundred down range at 25 yards at home

..I couldn't do that if the effort was 46lbs per cock....

Great points about the Sig ! I did enjoy that cocking effort.

Yes! The cocking effort to achieve over 21FPE at the muzzle is FANTASTIC!! Plus, it shoots quite well.

Yeah...bought it as a combo. Right now i don't plan on selling.

I can't believe how accurate your gun is grouping.

Thank you so much for the compliment.

I think the gun is mostly limited by me. I have put over 17,000 pellets down range with it so I think I know how to coax it a little, lol. It was an interesting day shifting between firearms and the pellet gun. My buddies had to laugh at me every time I pulled the trigger on the Sig.

Glen , You are correct about the stock material being a deal breaker as I prefer wood or laminate furniture for a rifle of that design. Thanks for the advice

No problem at all! I don't think I would even have the sig if it was synthetic (my personal preference). Funny thing is the stock is finished fairly dark, and can look like synthetic in some pics!

Those are really excellent groups. I think I’m going to need to look for one of those. Nice shooting sir!

Thank you so much! Once again, it's the gun..not me.

My 2 cents....

1. This gun had the largest learning curve of all my springers. It took well over 3 times the length of time to coax it.

2. This gun, for me, does better with a snug hold at the shoulder (not tight, but snug). That was probably the biggest part of the curve for me.

3. It seems pretty sensitive to where you hold the forearm. Just keep putting your hand or sandbag in the same spot. It'll be consistent no matter where but POI will change based on where you hold it. Not by a ton, but incrementally and could be frustrating. Also you dont have to hold it to the millimeter in the same spot...just try to be close and consistent to where you hold it.

4. It has been slightly rough on scopes.

5. Although cocking effort is minimal for the FPE you get, it's the actual "breaking" of the lockup that comes from factory quite stiff. It'll settle in.

6. The trigger is very good, not fantastic. No creep in mine, clear wall before the break. Breaks right now near 2lb 4 oz. It definitely gets better with time and usage. Pay attention to your trigger habits.

7. The barrel is not "blued" per se, but is a matte finish. I like it.

8. I'll keep thinking of more later....

Got one. Ignore the idea that the military hold is a must. It's one way, but arguably I shoot it better if I slightly curled my palm around the forearm and gently hold with my fingers.

These are the 75 yards. Only shot one target, and slightly heavy winds left to right. Walould like to do this again....order is again top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, center

Be careful on some of those websites businesses that claim the have the ASP20.
They are scams. Examples.
