Tominco's IMPACT !

IMPACT OWNERS WATCH OUT FOR THIS!

Today I found that my Impact was shooting about 200fps lower than it should have been! WHOA! WTF?!
Bottle checked out, power checked out, (return) level checked out, reg checked out. Crony??
I was using a new brighter light so... maybe that was doing it?
Compared the two and thought I saw a 30fps difference just from the lighting change. Upon further testing, I found that this was not the case. So... WTF?
Opened up the level, nope.
Adjusted the reg, nope.
Set it up to a regulated SCBA bottle, no change.
Played with the power wheel and that's when I noticed it...
See that little set screw behind the power wheel?

That little sucker had backed out 6 turns! It was almost flush with the metal part it screws through! That's a BIG adjustment! In fact, you can see the threads that are grey through the peep hole. That's how much it backed out.
If you remove the power wheel (watch out for the detent ball!) you can see where it protrudes beyond the metal block (behind the wheel). The setscrew should show approximately 7-8 threads from factory. A little lock-tite and some drying time and I should be back in business. :)

Here's another WATCH OUT situation that I discovered today! (frustrating day for me! LOL!)

Foster connection differences.

If you use an FX foster connection with the Impact, you'll be A-OK!
Here's the FX installed on the Impact...

Here's an unknown name brand installed. I think it came off my Benjamin or maybe my Hill pump It has very light knurling and none of the knurling is showing to grip! So, if you use this type you'll need some needle nose pliers to remove it.

And here's one from "Foster MFG CO SGF MO".
It will NOT FIT the Impact! If you have this type, make sure you change it out!
This is as close as I could get it to working, it is not seated.

I tried to make it work and all I did was scratch up my rifle! @$%^&&;(%*&!!
There's a small T shaped scratch on the inside of the recess at about 11:30hrs.

Looks like it's about time to clean off my intake filter too!

I find it a bit ironic that the fitting with the name FOSTER on it is the one that won't work!

"Tominco"Well, after shooting so well with the Impact at 150yards the other day. I finally have a reason to move my farthest target out to 175yds. That's the max for my property (I think it's actually 173yds but need to check it). Now I just need some Weaver/picatinny FX no limit scope mounts so I don't have to crank the heck out of my scope!
check out these

Tom

That screw should have had loc-tite on it from the factory. So unless you broke it loose, shooters should not have that problem.

I never purchase the first run. I know some like the adventure but as described before I don't like frustration which I have plenty at work already. I wanted the Cricket when it first came out but waited about a year, and I have a flawless one with no issues at all which is much more enjoyable for me. I'd much rather have pure enjoyment than to mix with frustration.

I found another look out for. My groups at 50 yards went from cutting pellet holes to inch and a half groups. This has been driving me crazy I shot almost a whole tin of pellets today. I almost gave up when I noticed when I moved the gun the whole shroud rotated. This gun being new wasn't sure if that was how it was made so I screwed the shroud like I was tighting it up and it tightened up (imagine that lol) after that had to resight it in now at fifty it's back to cutting pellets. I didn't have time to shoot from longer distances but I'm betting it's back to driving nails.
One other thing I noticed also every once in a while it wouldn't feed a pellet like it would jam figured out the pellet prob was loose. Those are a few look out for's I found

"DavidLong"FX foster fitting does not work with Omega compressor hose. Omega foster fitting has O ring on back flat of fitting. FX foster has a beveled(countersunk) end and no O ring..
Any suggestions.
One work around would be to buy a female quick connect adapter to screw on to the FX fill adapter. This should work with your Omega compressor. The part costs $9.99 and is available at Pyramyd Air.

"sgtskinny"
"GLPalinkas"Question for you Impact owners:

Does the CF bottle have a check valve in it? Meaning, could a precharged spare be carried in a backpack?

Yes it has a zero loss valve, you can screw the bottle on and off without losing air, well maybe a short psssst.

Thank you Sgt. Sounds like a plan to me!!

Tom,
Hope you had a good holiday season. I wanted to let you know I called AoA last week and put down the $200.00 to get on the waiting list for an Impact. They told me FX is only making about 35 of the rifles per week and that isn't a lot compared to worldwide demand. The good news is the silver Impact is not as popular as the black so I ordered it in .25. I should have it before spring. I still plan to get in touch with you and bring up both my Daystate and the Impact when the weather isn't so cold up there. Looking forward to knocking off a few ground squirrels with you.
