Tominco's FX Crown (pic heavy!)

Thanks to BH for the Huggett! I've been wanting to try this out for a while on the Crown.
Yeah, I could have removed the one off my Wildcat but, this gave me an excuse to get another one. :)

I figured the sleeve screw was a 1/2x20 standard thread.
Yes, it makes it long. About 48.5" or, about 1" longer than with the stock shroud extended.
But it definitely makes a noticeable difference! It also allows for lower scope mounts. The MTC I have mounted barely cleared the top of the old shroud. I think I could stick a playing card in the gap - thats how close it was.
It also changed my poi but, I expected that. I did not notice any significant change in accuracy at 100 yards.

Now, I'm looking forward to getting the .22 setup so I can try the Belita. If all things are equal, the Belita might make the rifle shorter and quieter?

Side note: I keep seeing unspecified Crown issues being posted here and there. But, no details.
I'm not having any issues with mine. It shoots like a champ, no leaks, all the adjustments work. I don't post about it much because I've got a lot on my plate. It's a sweet rifle and there's a lot to learn with it, in regards to tuning.

I don't know what rings I have on there. It's whatever I pulled from my ring pile. I think they might be these.
If you're going with a 60mm bell, you'll definitely need highs. The no-limits would be a good choice, not only for the tilt but, you can raise them both up equally, if needed. Get an adjustable comb because you're going to be up there a ways.

"TriggerFingr"I wonder the length of the lifespan/longevity of the Crown regulator when the set pressure is getting closer to 150 bar, since according to the manual beyond 150bar is the breaking point. Or regulators are like hard drives. They can fail but we just don't know when that's why we do back ups.
the belleville spring stack is compressed lot more above 140 setting, so the dishes look more like flat washers, perhaps this dan be sorted by just using thicker and stronger dishes and diffeent number or arrangement.....anyway of course higher pressures end up popping o rings ultimately.
you will end up with lot more leaks long term

the weird thing is by design or principle of operation: o rings supposed to seal better at higher pressures but longevity will suffer -it seems so the reality shows that.

if you pust it too far something will give

Looking at your picture with description That little silver post is what aligns the barrel. Just like the Impact
it seems to me the threaded hole is a poor finish or it should not have been drilled that deep so it surfaced.
plus
Are all stocks such a bad fit or is it only yours because it is an early model.
I can see some quite wide gaps between the rear of the action and the stock

I like that the power wheel/transferport adjustment reappeared. Can anyone explain to me when to adjust the hammer spring versus the power wheel?
what i mean is: how low you can go with the hammer spring, obviously the power wheel is a quick way of making big power changes. and i see with the hammer spring you can fine tune things, BUT there are very different things in functionality. So there must be some logic in touching one or the other.

Tom,

I'm one of the guys that are having consistency issues with my crown. I have shot around 300 rounds of mkII out of it and I keep getting fliers at 20 yards.

its shot on top of a bench. my regulator is factory set and. I always try to make sure my bottle pressure is 150-230. and then I refill. on a NRA 10 meter target, 3 columns with 4 rows. 12 shots. 1st 3 shots most of time is X ring. but once I move to next row Wonka stuff starts happening. the pellet in no wind start drifting up and to the right. by the time I get to 4th row. I might be getting 6's instead of x,9,8. it is so frustrating bc I have a wildcat .25 with a NC LDC. and it is lights out. with very little effort I can shoot 11/12 10's with a few X rings! I compared trigger pull with my Lyman scale, and mt WC was at 1lb but my Crown was at 1lb 3oz,so I adjusted the trigger down to 10oz. that helped but not much.

on FB groups, they suggested I clean the barrel from factory gunk. so I bought a patch worm .25 kit and ran through 4-5patches.

it helped but crown still is not any where near as consistent as my wildcat. what do u think could be my issue? I can upload pics of my target so u can inspect shot strings.

I don't have a chronograph. but I have the tp set to 3 and the PW adjusted and set to 4

I'm not tom, but I had a 500 royale (basically same gun without the external adjustments) that did the same thing as your crown.. First of 2 things is that cleaning with 4 patches did NOT get my barrel clean. It took maybe 50 when I cleaned it straight from the factory. And second, I found my poi shift problem to be a loose barrel screw. The ones under the scope mount. Once I tightened those down, it was a one hole gun. Just something you might check.

@Ikwan78 - You provided great information for us to go off of. Do you happen to know what speed your shooting at? I didn't notice it.
The responses before mine are all very good ones. Also, check your bolt probe screw, even if you have never touched it before. I have never taken mine out and found it loose a few days ago. A little dab of blue locktite should keep it nice and snug.
Shoot at MAX, 5, and 4. If MAX and 5 are the same speed, then your over powered and need to back things off.

@crusher75060 - Thanks! I don't know how many coats I put on. But, I don't have plans to finish it any further.

@T3PRanch - LOL! Thanks for the laugh! :D

I will check the loose barrel screws! how tight did you make them? hand tight? I have a torque wrench that I can set to however much ft plbs. wow 50 patches???

Hi Tominco

Mate there's a small problem........... they sent you my stock by mistake, when would be a good time for me to get it back...... lol

Terrific post, much appreciate your efforts. Just a small question please.......

Does the cone part just locate onto the pin of the shroud stop or does it somehow cam over and lock into place...........

Many Thanks
