Tominco's FX Crown (pic heavy!)

JSB Heavies, 100 yards, 16 shots.
I was only giving this about 1/2 effort, set to Max power, 3 TP (which should be shooting around 811), unsorted pellets, freshly opened tin, mag fed, was NOT holding for wind (2-5mph). Really just shooting a group to see how the rifle liked the MKII's. I know that I can do better than this with this rifle if I did my part.
Which does it like better, the .25's or the heavies? It's really too hard to say at this point. I'd have to put full effort into shooting both in order to tell the difference.

It's a working day today! Shooting 100 yards, installing Atlas rail, posing for pictures, filming for a video, running chrony strings, starting my journal, and tonight I'll be in charge of training the volunteer firemen. Busy Busy!

Standard installation procedure for me. If it fails, I can always increase the hole size and use threaded inserts. Another option I have is to add a screw in the center. It would mean I'd lose the ability to use 1 of my slots but, that's a small price to pay for security.
Right now, I have no reason to believe that this won't work just fine.

There's "just" enough room for the Atlas rail.

@Dirte Either that, or he has a one-off experimental barrel. The Crown barrels do not have the indent/divot for the Impact barrel setscrew.
Speaking of Huggett... I did plan on installing a huggett at some point to run a sound comparison. But, the stock shroud works pretty darn good and I'm happy with it. So, that little experiment will have to wait. ;)

TWIST RATE: I don't know what my twist rate is. From what I understand, it is printed on the sleeve and it is either 1:28 or 1:30. At this point, I'm not going to remove the sleeve until I have a pressing reason to do so, such as a different sleeve or an overwhelming sense of curiosity.

I bet you an "accuracy" that your curiosity will get the best of you.

"Menttaliist"Hey Tom. I've a question, is it possible to shoot without any moderator system? I mean, is it possible to take out the shroud holders leaving the barrel only? I know it can crack quite a bit but i'm curious to see how shorter the rifle can be, a nice option to shoot/carry inside a vehicle
I "think" so. Judging from these pictures from Michael's post. It would seem as though you'd be able to take off the "air stripper?" piece and leave the screw behind that holds the liner in place.
It wouldn't make the rifle much shorter. I'd guess only about 1.5-2"

"TriggerFingr"Tom, what is the name of the bipod mount you have installed? Who sells it. Did you use a wood screw? My Crown supposed to be delivered on the 3rd.
Atlas BT15. No, I took a risk and used machine screws. If you click >here< it will link you to the thread where I posted a video on how to install a rail to a stock. I used the same method as in the video. It's up to you what screws you use. I used the machine screw which is definitely an arguable decision. If they do fail over time, I still have the option to install heli-coil. Another popular method for installation is to use T-nuts. But, I did not believe I had enough material to work with to use them. If I did, I think I'd only be left with about 3/16-1/4" thickness of wood.
Congrats on the Crown! I think you're really going to like it! :)

"Kitplanenut"Great info Tom! Your da man. Mine seems to be shooting about 20-25 fps slower then yours. Will you quit screwing around with that wood and figure out the combination to lightning the trigger next? You have become the Crown manual!. Sylvan
Thank you! I'm glad you're getting something out of it. I might look into the trigger at some point in the next week or so. But, the wood is going to get some attention. On Thursday I plan to start the finishing process. That means that I won't be able to shoot the rifle, unless I vise it, until the first couple of coats have cured. I know it will delay some things but, I've already decided that this guns going to EBR this year and, it's going to look GOOOD! :)
It's my pleasure to be the unofficial "manual" I enjoy training and helping others. In fact, I just got back from training the whole volunteer fire dept. for 3 hours.

@ Dirte - Keep poking that thing and it'll sting you! lol I may take off the silver piece(re: Michael's pictures) off in order to find out if the threaded piece will allow an aftermarket 1/2x20 moderator. But, that would only be from curiosity since the factory shroud does a good enough job of keeping the sound down.

"TriggerFingr"Tom, thanks for the Railway Install Video. I might go for the wood screw instead. I thought it might have more bite or grip on the wood. Pls correct me if I'm wrong here. I will have to make that jig.
Is a polymer or plastic rail safe from cracking or reforming?
My pleasure. You can just use a square like I did when I rechecked my line. This area of the Crown also has a taper to it. So, take your time. The old saying is, "measure twice, cut once" I lost count of how many times I measured. PM sent
Just about everything has a cracking point.

"Menttaliist"Keep us updated with the wood! I'm curious to know what kind of work you're going to perform and see the results. Cheers and thx for sharing!
The simple answer is "Minwax Antique Oil Finish."
Here's the thread I did a while back for my Royale stock. And, here's the link to the method I'll be using on it (by T3PRanch) along with some other very good suggestions.

"puertorico"Tom...have you figured out how to get in the 830 fps range?
I assume your referring to the MKII's.
No, I haven't looked into it any further than the charts I posted above. If I'm maxed out at 811 with the MKII's, then that only leaves one thing left to adjust for potentially higher fps, the reg.
Today is day 3 with the Crown and, unfortunately, I've been too busy to even fire a shot. But, I did get my bottle topped off and tomorrow's another day! ;)
