To the FX Boss die hards

Just shoot it out of the box the way it is and enjoy it. Once you get into the tinkering mode, it opens the door to lots of problems as well as the ability to increase power if that is your goal. So you get 950 fps instead of 890. Is that a big deal??

Augie, IMHO DON'T F--K WITH IT!!! I've asked the same question when I 1st got my Boss but was told to leave it as is. I'm glad I did. It's incredibly reliable & accurate. I believe it's already regulated but I'm gonna check on that. I know FX regulators get a bad rep but in the Royale/Boss platform it's the perfect combination. I know you like to tinker with stuff but I won't do it on mine because I'm worried it'll "change the magic" that these guns hold for me. Hope this helps. Gerry 

OK, I just checked. Yes, they ARE regulated AND there's a YT video of Ernest showing how to adjust said regulator. I just WON'T! 

The only "improvements" I made to my Bobcat (same gun as Boss, different format) is a larger valve seat and Huma regulator. It doesn't need either. The gun is good to go as is. Look at how many top tens over the past six years the Boss/Bobcat has earned at EBR...

Ive just got a Huma in mine.

The Boss might be THE best FX ever made. Reliable, accurate easy to shoot, and in case it is needed (not very likely) easy to overhaul.

It doesn't necessarily need upgrades, but it is possible to tweak it a bit.

I had rebarreled mine with a .25 LW poly without choke (yes, before RAW started to use those as well ) to shoot the king heavies, and it was a absolute laser.

Still miss the Boss trigger, it is without a doubt the best trigger of any production FX ever made. Wish that all FX's had this trigger, it would be perfect. 

You're right, there doesn't seem to be much interest in souping up Bosses. It is very awesome just like it comes, but that is my take.

I don't have any experience with the Boss or Royale platform but from what I've read about the Royale 400, 500 and the Boss from other members here is to just feed them a steady diet of JSBs' (Its favorite) and you should be good to go.

Yeah not really much you can do to them, adding a Huma lets you run a higher reg pressure if wanted and its smaller so leaves some more plenum room. 

Best trigger around comes stock, possible to do multi-caliber with some work and Royale parts like Gijs and myself have done. Fantastic platform, ports are already big being a ".30 only" gun.

Augie, just to assuage your curiosity, I solemnly vow should I ever win the lottery I will buy you a Boss! Solemn promise! (I feel absolutely safe in saying this because I don't buy lottery tickets) We'll have to connect one of these days so you can see what us "mother hens" are clucking about!
