To ALL who said I was "OVERTHINKING" it!!!

well, we can never 'overthink' safety .. discussion is good .. but i think a long hard look at cheap chinese 'brass' fittings on hpa would be more productive than blast cages.

...again, i think the main idea people should get is when FILLING keep your distance from the bottle and apparatus .. that guy got injured alnost certain because he was standing right next to it .. dont do that .. if it wasnt clear the first time - DONT do that ..stay back as much as is practical ...

Yup that is pretty ugly looks like the filter and or brass fittings failed catastrophically for sure.

The fear of this is the main reason I have as yet not installed check valves to keep my filters pressurized as some do. I just don't trust the China made high pressure stuff that much.

Buy once, cry once. There are a plethora of stories shared here on AGN that directly correlate inexpensive equipment from China and other inexpensive origins that result in catastrophic failure. There was another hobbist here who had the lid of the filter tower narrowly miss his face as it shot up through the ceiling and damaged a metal hand cart.

Inexpensive no-name equipment sold on Alibaba and other auction sites should persistently remain questionable to the safety conscious. Unless there is a manufacturer who will back the legal claims and are a reputable legitimate business I would not make the risk assessment of saving money versus catastrophic injury. Stickers and logos claiming capability are easily affixed to a product.

The ER trip likely cost more than the dollar savings for the inexpensive solution. Just like with firearms, you buy ammunition from someone you trust or you reload it yourself. You don't buy no-name junk that is poorly loaded as you'll lose limb or life.

My limbs and life are not worth saving a few dollars. That's one meaty wound though, I feel very sorry for the gentleman who was kind enough to share it. I hope it serves as a warning for others going the inexpensive instead of quality route because the situation and bodily damage could have been much worse with little to no legal recourse available at all.

All Hoses, SCBA Tank, Fill Station, compressor hoses and hardware is American Made. Yes, I paid $76 for a microbore extension HPA hose and double the price for foster fittings. A bunch for a Stick Boy fill station and a lot for an inline regulator. But.....mine are not going to blow up in my face. I harken back to an advert for Bell Motorcycle helmets back in the 70's. It just said "Our helmets cost a lot more than others. How much is your head worth?".
