To All FX Fanboys

My journey into high end PCPs like many others on this forum started with Marauders and ended with higher end brands, such as, AirArms,Daystate, and RAW. I couldn't help but notice a large FX following of almost cult status, but always resisted FX for several reasons.

For their price they didn't seem to have the fit and finish of the above mentioned brands. Their walnut was lackluster compared to the RAW or Daystate, and the bluing, fit and finish paled in comparison to AirArms. The several reports posted on Airgun Nation of issues members were having with FX products, especially the Impact, further dimmed my view.

I couldn't help but notice, however, a disproportional number of FX winners year after year at EBR in several different events. I know it's the shooter not the gun, and sponsor driven, but still paper is the truth-sayer.

So with all this being said to all you FX Fanboys, I just took delivery on a FX Wildcat .22. Right out of the box, after slapping a Hawke Air Max 3-12x40 on it this thing was slinging some serious lead. Pellet of choice is a JSB 18.1g Heavy, which is producing 32 fpe and sub 1/2" groups at 50 yds with over 60 shots per fill, but you guys already know all of that. Will it out shoot my other high end PCPs? Not necessarily, but what an innovative package. I have since added a DonnyFl Sumo moderator(great service) to make it whisper, and kept the smaller Hawke Air Max on it, as a nice balance. I finally get it about FX. It is pure innovative, expensive, tack driving fun. Still have my Marauders.
+1 FX

I've owned 11 different models from the FX line and about 5 versions of Royales (well over a dozen rifles, all together) The Wildcat is among my favorite. Congrats on a very fine rifle!
If the WC is your first Bull Pup, you might struggle to match your traditional rifle groups. There's a small learning curve with shooting bull pups. But if you overcome that curve, my theory is that your traditional rifle shooting will improve as well.
FX hit a home run with the Wildcat.
Happy Shooting!

I bought a Fx Bobcat.25 a couple yrs ago and still am blown away at its accuracy every time i shoot it. I just ordered a impact.25 for hunting and can hardly wait for it.Im sure their are many other gun manufactures that make them as good or maybe better but so far i haven't been let down.I guess you can call me a FX fan.I will be looking to put a light weight scope on it if anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated.

I'm pretty much the same. Started with Marauders, which I still have. Finally picked up a Royale 500, then went to the Wildcat, both in 25. Tom, I think you are right about it taking a little bit to learn the way the WC fits you when you shoot. I do have to adjust a couple of things to get the comfort I'm looking for in my shooting position. And, yes it does work the same for my longer guns. Who knew. :)

I would love a Crown or RAW, but I have a WC and an Impact. WC in 22 and Impact in 22, 25, 30. I like the accuracy and the ease that they can be maneuvered in my truck when I shoot ground squirrels along the RR tracks by my house. With the ability to one day get the Crown barrel system for my Impact I can't see buying a Crown, however I may just end up with a RAW for bench shooting. As far as problems with the guns, all manufacturers have problems now and then. There are a lot of WCs and Impacts out there and I suspect the vast majority are fine with no problems. I'm a FX fanboy.

Yup, Those "things" you are adjusting for comfort are the very same things that you'll have to perfect in order to shoot at the same level (I suspect). My .25 WC is a top long range shooter, in my collection, as well as a "Go-To" for pest control.
It might be a fun experiment to shoot some groups with your longer guns right now, then focus intensely on the WC until you are proficient with it, then shoot some groups with the longer guns again and compare. But, who's got time for that? Just shoot the darn thing and have fun! :D

Congrats Kev!

I have a pretty nice collection of PCP's ... but my ALL AROUND favorite is my .25 Wildcat. It's the only FX in my collection.

My WC is light in weight with a compact, Leupold scope (just 11ozs)... shoulders real nice and is an awesome, offhand shooter! I scratch my head when I see folks with big honking scopes on bull-pups. Just my preference....

Can't wait to hear your review. Enjoy your new WC!

Welcome to the FX Fan Club Kev! I am certainly one of their biggest fans and I am sure you will be too. I have a Wildcat .25 and a Streamline .25 and both are tack drivers. The FX rifles are not only accurate and good to look at, but they are among the most lightweight guns available. I love shooting standing offhand so the Wildcat is perfect. I have one suggestion - try cleaning your pellets and lightly lubing them with Napier Pellet Lube. These smooth twist barrels seem to love it! Your groups may shrink by up to 50%, and your breech o-ring will last much longer. I know you are going to fall in love with your Wildcat! Enjoy!
All the best, Chuck

Kev - Between my brother and I, we own 4 FX rifles. From .22 Royale 400's, to a .22 Independence, to a FX Boss and every one of these rifles has been impeccable. To say we are pleased with them would be a huge understatement.

Great to hear the new Wild Cat is shooting well for you. May it continue to do so for years to come.

Thanks guys for all suggestions and advice. Matt asked for photo of my WC and here is what I got with my RAW 1000X .25 in the background. I would have gone with the .25 WC but have 3 .25s already one being this RAW. Also, have a TalonP (Little Tex) with 24" barrel that produces 100 fpe in a small package along with a .25 Marauder all wrapped in tiger stripe GunSkins(The Killer).

I was going for a small, accurate package with a high shot count in the neighborhood of 30 fpe. Add quiet to the check list with the Sumo moderator. DonnyFl suggested that I get the .25 Sumo for the .22 WC to add versatility so that I can use it on other .25 caliber AGs in the future. It is way quieter than my Marauder now. I think another overlooked feature that FX has is their soft touch stock, which I didn't think I was going to like, but was I ever wrong.

Trigger adjustment was really easy. By turning one screw clockwise closest to the trigger guard I was to reduce the long travel to my liking. That even tightened groups even further. Some suggestions about bore cleaning and pellet treatment are cause for further exploration.

I have noticed that you have to be careful to initially engage the magazine when first loading a pellet into the chamber. Just something for me to be aware of for the WC to function properly. Once engaged with the side lever's position forward it is a pleasure to cock. The small mag capacity is offset by it's simplicity and ease of loading.

Is the WC perfect? What is? Am I going to be selling my RAW? NO WAY! Overall I could not be happier with my WC purchase and glad I read a lot of your comments and reviews. Man I guess I'd never say this but I guess I'm an FX fanboy, too.
