To all Daystate wolverine R HP .22

Just got my wolverine R .22 HP yesterday

Would like to start a topic for all R HP

regarding regulator setting ,trigger , ect

best adjustment reg for 25.4 or 18.1

Mine came factory set regulator to 170 bar

shoots 25.4 ReDsgn at 880 fps

also triyed 18.1 at 60 yard one hole group

very accurate

any input to improve our R would be great

any test for the R please posted and share

I have the Wolverine R in 177. It shoots JSB Exacts 10.34 grain at 890 FPS. That is just where I want to be so any further adjustment in that category is not needed. I started with H&N Barracuda pellets and soon found them to be too unstable with too many flyers. I pushed one through the barrel and it came out with deeper rifling grooves in the head and skirt than I thought was conducive to an accurate flight. The muzzle end of the Lothar Walther barrel is choked.

Although it has a nice two stage trigger, believe it or not, not quite as nice as my self tuned spring guns. The let off was just too hard for my shooting needs.

The trigger can be taken down without removing it from the body of the gun. I polished all rubbing and touching parts to a mirror shine which made it better, but still not what I was looking for.

So a close look at the mechanical function led me to the fact that there are two springs that work against each other. One increases the pull while keeping the sear in place and the other, around the first stage adjustment screw, can be altered to assist in the ease of the pull.

The balance is critical and after a lot of experimentation, I found a spring with the proper rate and cut it to the proper length such that the trigger is now just the way I like it and the gun is still safe, which of course, is the most important thing.

I Bought a Wolverine R, beautiful gun, hated the trigger though so took it back and bought another Redwolf instead!

Nice to see you have adjusted yours to be safe with an nice let off!

The guy in the store warned me I wouldn't like the trigger before I bought it.

So I just got my Wolverine R HP in .22 today from AOA.

My reg reads 180 BAR on the gun.

Testing shows an average of 1023 fps using 18.1g JSB’s.

My gun came packaged with the wrong magazine - 30 cal instead of the 22 cal mag and was also missing the single shot tray.

A quick call to AOA and Darren shipped me the right mag and tray today too.

Turns out that these 22 HP’s are originally 30 cal guns but due to only producing 60 ft lbs, which AOA said they didn’t want because they’re underpowered, they swapped out the barrels to .22’s and shipped them here. Even my box reads 30 cal and matches the serial on the gun.

I’m going to test it out and see how it shoots before I consider returning it as I’m wondering whether or not the reg is too high for a 22 cal.

Funny enough, all the paperwork included with the gun from Daystate with the in-house testing of the gun they do prior to shipment still has the 30 cal information. I was perplexed to find a 30 cal box, manual, shooting card, and magazine but the gun was chambered in 22.

I have a Frankenstein Daystate, plain and simple.

The other thing I'm wondering, is if the internals of the gun are still designed for the higher output 30 cal, or if Daystate revamped the entire gun, not just the barrel, but the hammer spring, etc, to be suitable for the HP 22 cal.

How do you adjust the reg on the Daystate? Is this something that requires a teardown of the gun or is there an allen screw that can be adjusted externally to drop the reg pressure? (like FX) I'm not planning on doing it. If anything, I will have AOA do it if needed.

I just got a shipment of NSA slugs for it - 23 grain hollow point and 28 grain boat-tail. I'll try those out and see how they shoot out of it before considering any modifications. I'd love to have a slug gun that can put the hammer down in 22 cal.

I also have JSB 18's and H&N Baracuda 21g's to try out as well.

Thanks for the information.

When you adjusted your regulator down to 135 bar, did you also adjust your hammer spring tension? I'm guessing you'd need less force to pop open that valve at 135 bar compared to 170 bar.

I'm wondering if Daystate tried lower reg pressures and found the gun not able to reach the 45 ft lbs of energy so it just upped the reg until they got the power they wanted. Increased power at the expense of shot count.
