Time to tinker on the daisy 880 but need a little help

Gonna start tinkering on my 880 but need a little help from some experienced 880 modders

the rifles pretty much stock other than the barell tape mod so I think now I want to remove the flat spring and fill the hole/slot in the piston head

while I won't have any issues with my mechanical ability in tearing it down or assembling it I'm not really sure how to get the flat spring out of the trigger assembly are there any good videos or tutorials on how to actually remove it ??

Also what is the best compound to use to fill the piston ?? Jsb weld ??

Not going to go too crazy with this rifle as it's pretty accurate and reliable as is just figured I'd do a few mods while winter is here and get

some shooting in indoors

thanks for any info

If memory serves me right, once the rifle is dissasembled, the spring is easy to remove. I would search "Daisy 880 modifications" on youtube just to be safe.

I filled the pump piston on mine w/JB Weld. Sprayed the stock with truck bedliner. For a little weight I had 3/4 of a tin of .22 Crosman Piranha pellets that I poured into the butt stock (That was their Best group to date.) and filled it with spray foam (Great Stuff or it's equivalent) to bond it all together...no rattles.

VERY accurate little gun out to 25 yds! I was Shocked at how well it shoots! Btw,I cleaned the barrel well and lightly polished it with some Flitz metal polish.

Crony reading is for AA 8.44's/10 pumps. The little rubber dot on the butt is to keep it from sliding out when its leaned in the corner.

Hope this helps!

I've seen some comments where people yank the flat spring out. I didn't go that route, I disassembled the trigger mechanism, and then reassembled it without the flat spring. There's a few youtube videos that capture this process up close, if I find the one I liked the most I'll update this post with the link. I should warn you though, the first time I reassembled the trigger mechanism it took me a solid 20 minutes... It definitely helps to have some punches to get out the pins, a vice would probably help too but I did it without one.
