Plenty of reasons to be cautious of tics. I guess having another reason doesn't hurt. So I am not saying I blame you. But really am sick of mass communications, and this forum is a respite from the stories journalists decide to tell.
When I'm in the woods or out and about on my property during tic season I spray on my dogs flea and tic repellant. I apply it mostly on my legs and pants. This has always worked very well. Just don't get any in your sensitive areas. You can also put a flea collar in your belt loop.
In East Texas where chiggers are freaking nightmare we used to go to the feed store and get the ear tags that they put on cattle and pin them into the bottom of our pant leg. Works a treat.
