Thoughts have changed on pellets versus slugs - a discussion

@long_shot Interesting. So I’m still a bit confused. Do you consider any off the shelf slugs to be match grade, or are they all “cheap”? The impression we all get from your statements is that the only non cheap slugs are hand made for the specific gun application. That’s fine if that’s your opinion, I’m just trying to gauge where you stand on that topic since you brought it up.

Also I’d like to understand more about your version of “harmonic tuning”? I can understand how it helps with longer floppy barrels like the STX, but in a stiffer barrel clamped near the middle of the barrel (like your Cricket), how does that help and how do you go about doing it? Or for a fully tensioned barrel?

Thanks for the insight, we appreciate it... I was looking at the post of the Russian 200 yard EBR and it seems from your squirrel head shots videos at 200 yards you could easily dominate something like that...?

Sorry about my crappy personality.

I would say if you are sorting them for some reason. Yes, cheap ammo. Not sure just what you get buying current slugs. It seems that there's a lot more happy slug shooters lately.

“harmonic tuning”? Watch the video. Try something on your gun maybe. I have 2/3 of the barrel, moderator and LDC out past the clamps on that Cricket. It creates significant barrel droop.

Funny, Mike. I'd need 110 FPE with a 50 - 55gr. .25 cal. to even have a chance for a respectable last place.

No worries Tom, just say what you mean and no one can fault you for that. My wife tells me I don't have a Brain to Mouth Filter... I think in Russia Nicolay told me he was shooting a .22 slug somewhere in the low 40 grain range at high 900's FPS. He either made them or had them made to his specs, and he says the BC is in excess of 0.20, which is pretty amazing. Also he's a really good shot having recently won EBR Pro. ;)
