URGAN .25 ..This was almost a For Sale..AD

My first uragan 30 .comes n goes..I note that they really are sensitive to harmonics..barrels are thinner than my crickets almost 3/32 thinner .. for a unstable place to shoot they are horrible..sorry for the truth..I ask for a .25 when I see the shot card I thought it was great because this one came in low power something like 25.g at 900fps so I could see if the power of the .30 was the problem..I started using the gun n I can't even see where the pellet goes I try a small moderator didn't work either....BE AWERE THAT IF YOU SHOOT FROM A SOLID TABLE THIS THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU WILL NOT NOTICE..I tried a Mac Gyver made barrel band even worst..so today before I post a for sale ad ..I try one more thing I put 2 hose seals together n tight the shroud..well I could see the pellet in flight better ..I took those out and place a piece of PVC pipe 1/8 thick ... now we are talking not only I I se the pellet impact n they all go to the same hole..and the barrel stif as a rock..now I can enjoy my uragan...now I cut this one to see if it works n it does but I cut the PVC pipe in as saw ... so if someone could do something like that in a black plastic with the iner hole as small as the barrel and just a bit smaller than the shroud that will be great..

I had a similar problem. Check the crown as well. I was amazed at how a small discrepancy could absolutely destroy the accuracy. Most of the “tuning” for air guns and powder burners as well related to barrel harmonics if everything else is right. You can’t tune a poorly machined barrel into a sub minute of angle shooter but you CAN tune a good shooter into a great shooter if you can stick with the process. A flexible barrel causes issue with POI change which I’ve found a real problem with some rifles and especially air rifles

Great job you did there! Even better it tightened up your groups substantially.

I used the same technique on my Impact several months back and it really tightened things up good although the gun already shot stellar so not much help there. Still it did stiffen the barrel assembly remarkably well so I no longer had to worry about poi shifts. I just made a bushing that was slightly longer than the space between the barrel shroud and the block. So when I tightened the shroud down it snugged up against the block.

Did it better when I got more Delrin.

Odd that you say the barrels are thin. I have several AG's here and the Uragan has the largest dia. barrel of the lot.

I tried the same thing as My Raptor uses a similar setup. Sadly, it had exactly the opposite impact on the Uragan. It is dead nuts accurate without the spacer being tightened against the block, But is is more solid with it. And it sprays with it there.

Each bbl. is different. It is the way it is with barrels.

After taking my .30 Uragan apart to remove the barrel for some lapping and polishing I would think that the barrel being the main support between the mid and rear blocks would be more of an issue than anything else. I've never seen a design quite like it. The mounting of the barrel with 4 lugs in the rear and 4 lugs mid makes me wonder how harmonics could be a problem. My .22 barrel seems pretty stout. It's a PITA to line it all up, but solid once right.

Like Knife said every bbl is different.

Airforce barrels n cricket barrel are almos 5/8 of inch thick..uragan barrels are a bit more than 1/2 " for me that is thin compared to the other 2 .. the .30 was even worst the only time I had such a bad experience was when the barrel in the 357 rex comes loose..I cant track.the shoot because of the barrel movement..there was a uragan .30 afew days ago for sale the the guy modified the shroud looking for a way to stabilize the barrel..so that my experience with the 2 guns you could see I wait to use the second in order to give my experience with the gun I also stated tha it happens if you are shooting from a unstable place with a moderator on front..n I never had such a problem not with my crickets or taipan longs..not even when I was using the condors for pellets..I could even track the shot from my HP 308 Texan..but no from the uragan..barrel goes every were..if you take the shroud of n take the tip.of the barrel like you will play a guitar it goes boinnnnnnnnn ..try that with a cricket.. or a taipan..that's harmonic I'm talking about..anyway with my problem solved..a .22 is on my way n definitely will buy me the .30 again..

Glad it worked out for you. I have quite a few both factory and custom AF barrels and my .25 Uragan is larger in dia/ than any of them. Odd as I said. The AF barrels are just under 13mm, where the Uragan is over 14mm. Perhaps they changed the dimensions?

A shame in m;y case as I have a lot of barrels I would love to test in the Uragan, but all are undersized unless I cf wrap them.

With such a short section of barrel extending in front of the forward block, it is hard to understand how you are having such a limber barrel. Compared to say, an impact, it is a crowbar. Be that as it may, put a cf tube between the air stripper base and the rear of the shroud. It will be hell bent for stout.

Ctshooter, next time, use the cheek piece as a spacer to set the distance between the two blocks. Works well. ;<)

First is a factory..24" .22 airforce barrel n yes airforce barrels come thinner in the ss models talon p - talon ss - condor ss.. the one in the pic almost a rebar... the second ir a factory cricket 22" carbine barrel just a hair thinner...let see what the fabulous uragan has for barrel when I go home...will send you a pic...so the first is 5/8 -- the cricket is just 1/32 smaller..

Really happy to say that..the uragan .25 have worked flawlessly.. 29.5 g slugs work awesome even when going at 820fps will have it tune up in power with a huma soon .. .22 uragan arrived a week ago already tuned for 25g redesigned at 950fps I'm shooting KO .216 they go like a laser..with a .22 sumo the only thing you hear is the hammer..the slug smashing the tree at 94y is way louder..definitely in sound back yard friendly..more than the sumo uragan has a really good efective shroud .. the sumo just completed the package for my needs.. but a tatsu should work just fine..with the cocking arm on the left gun could be cocking like a impact without having to take your face of the target...but a shorter throw lever would be great...22 is a wood stock didn't think I liked..but since is a satin finish is not slippery..I like the wood stock a lot .. the .30 should be here again pretty soon.
