It's a Crosman 1720 that I converted to carbine form via a 21" Discovery barrel and a Tom West stock.

From what I can tell, the 1720 is designed to self regulate for beaucoup shots at sub 12 fpe. With an after market hammer spring and the pre-load cranked,I could only get a few shots approaching 20 fpe with around 2500 to 2600 psi showing on the fill gauge. I knew the Maximus valve, designed to operate from a 2000 psi fill was at least similar looking, and a new generation valve like the P-Rod & 1720 valve, so with this in mind, I swapped out the internal spring from the Maximus valve into the 1720 valve, cut the tube to 10" (same as a 2250/2400 tube) installed a drop block, 4500 psi paintball cf tank, and a 1500 psi output paintball reg. The stock came a little later.

This produced 17 or so fpe with no hammer spring pre-load, in the 865 to 875 fps range w/AA 10.3 pellets. Been shooting Hunter FT for a couple of matches. A work in progress.

Sorry if that was a little long winded, but I like to contribute the little that I can to the collection of airgun knowledge on this forum.

But on a sad note, chose to go to the WMA that I used to hunt at - the spot that generated all those squirrel hunting posts on the old Yellow Forum -

I knew this was inevitable, but it was still a shocker, almost teared up a little, when I rounded the corner to go to my favorite spot -

My father would have said be thank full for the good times and good memories, and I am, just wanted to make a few more, right here.

Peaceout
