It would take a LOT of bandwidth to host videos which means it would cost the forum a LOT of $. There are already YouTube alternatives out there although without the advertising income that the bigger video creators can earn.

Vimeo.
And this is not just occurring with air rifles. A lot of science channels have been given strikes, Cody’s Lab for example.
HEMA (historical European martial arts—swords and such) channels have been issued strikes, history channels that talk about war, pretty much everything but cute cat channels have been recently censured.

What alternatives do we have to put our videos on besides YT?  I know this is happening to everyone.  There is no with company similar to YT.  It is a monopoly.

Some good YouTube alternatives exist such as…

    Dailymotion
    Vimeo
    Metacafe
    Vevo
    Veoh

The trick would be to get all of the popular airgun YouTubers to agree on one of those platforms to switch over to. People are not going to want to go to Dailymotion for one of their favorite video creators, to Vimeo for another, and Metacafe for another. If all go to a single chosen platform then they all benefit off of each other I believe.

Vimeo will not be a good site to use.

The only alternative that will work is a site run by people who are actual hunters/shooters otherwise our life style will always offend someone and not be allowed.

There are alternatives to Youtube, but YouTube pays.  Most of the others charge.  It’s a lot more than having the video hosted, it’s making it attractive enough to the channel owners to put in the effort.  Without a financial incentive, the makers really can’t be expected to do the quality we’ve gotten used to.

    Attn: Mods

Rick Eutsler has asked me to see if AGN would allow him to contribute his content to the forum.

I’m not sure what is specifically meant by that. Perhaps nothing more than simply making a post like anyone else with an outbound link to his videos or other content?

Forgive me if I’m ignorant on the subject, perhaps AGN has some agreement with preferred content producers, but to me, it seems like a welcome place for everyone.

I know Rick, like many others, is having a rough go at it with YouTube. Rick has personally helped me in the past. So I’d like to do what I can to help him in return.

Would one of you moderators be willing to reach out to Rick if you haven’t already? And extend an invitation to him to engage with AGN if that is possible?

    Respectfully, Spike

I personally think that the big players should get together, including the NRA and yhe PB community and build an alternate site from scratch. Google can and will buy anything they deem in a millisecond, and then you are left scrambling again.
While I get Steve’s message, I feel that we are Persona Non Grata in their playground. As the saying goes, you Know when you are not welcome.
