Third Party Barrel Support For FX Air Cylinder Airguns That Work

Hello AirgunNation Peoples,

Recently found out about a UK airgun 3D printing website / company named https://smwengineering.co.uk/. They sell mostly 3D printed airgun accessories for multiple airgun manufacturers, and a particular product I saw on there website caught my attention. So, I made the purchase. Actually I bought 3 of them. The item was a “FX Wildcat Picatinny Mount” which dubs as a barrel support for some of FX’s most recent air cylinder equipped air rifles like the Wildcat, Streamline, and Dreamline. My order was delivered in about 7 business days all the way from the UK to TX, USA. Which I feel was pretty swift.

To quote the item description from their website,

“Accessories that Work at Reasonable Prices”

“FX Wildcat Picatinny Mounts

This mount allows three picatinny accessories to be mounted onto the front of FX Wildcat Airguns. They are made from tough ABS plastic using high quality and density. They are perfect for mounting an under-slung ranging laser, lamps, torches and bi-pods.

Two designs are available:

STANDARD: Designed for power restricted FX Wildcats (known as FX Compact in USA), this mount grips around the small amount of tank available and leaves space for air refilling while in place. Not recommended for bi-pod or sling use.

FAC ONLY: This uses the extra space available on the full length WIldcat tank. It will fit a Sub 12/compact but will cover the air fill. Not recommended for sling.

The clamps are attached using a supplied hex bolt and nut. Stainless bolts with thumb nuts are available separately.

Other colours can be made to order if you like more bling!

These products are made in the UK using high quality 3D printing and tough ABS or equivalent.”

Well, all three are installed on my 3 different FX guns and I am quite pleased with the results. Eliminated all barrel / air cylinder knocking together, all if any POI shifts, supports the barrel but still allows the free floating aspect (as far as the natural reverberation waves in the shot cycle within the barrel), and adds some 3 sided picatinny mounts for accessories of my choice (lasers ie. flashlight/torch). I think my accuracy has actually improved with each airgun and the the barrels feel stable and supported much more so than they were in stock form. Time will tell, but so far they’re a great accessory. I’ve read here on this very forum about people wanting barrel supports or barrel bands for their FX Dreamline’s and such airguns. Well, these products may just be the answer all of those folks were looking for!

You’re welcome,

JoeKool 😎👍🏽

Hi Joe,thx for the link. I have a few ?s tho. On the website it shows the accessory attaches to the barrel shroud, but in your photo,s you have them attached to the air cylinder. Your air cylinders and barrel shrouds don't look stock either, they look carbon fiber. Are they the same dimensions as stock? I'm looking for accessories that attach to the air cylinder. I'd go with what FX has but I can't seem to nail down the exact O.D. dimensions of the barrel shroud and cylinder (33mm or 34mm). I have the Dreamline classic.

You’re looking at a different accessory, look carefully for the “FX Wildcat Picatinny Mounts” it may be on the FX accessories page 2. My air cylinders are the stock aluminum ones not carbon fiber. They are just customized with carbon wrap I installed. My Dreamline Bullpup is just like your Dreamline Classic as far as shroud and air cylinder dimensions. I spoke to FX USA a few weeks ago and FX Airguns (Sweden) have discontinued their barrel band, but there may be some still floating around on the market at some vender out there. Have a ? Where do you plan on buying one from?

Thx for pointing it out.I miss stuff all the time like that, lol. As for where I would buy 1 from.well,,really don't know.I thought maybe FX USA but they're just a distributor right? Been keeping an eye on the dealers like PA,AGD,and Utah Air, I thought I saw where one or two of those finally got single shot trays available for the Crown/Dream so I was hoping they would be getting more accessories for the FX,s. Again thx for that link

HeyU,

You’re welcome, this product is really good. Good luck and happy air-gunning!

I make them also but my design is a little different and my price may be slightly higher. Mine is a simple split picatinny rail that is clamped by your bipod. It doesn't touch the shroud because I can't make people believe their barrel is not "free floating" and they think their accuracy will degrade if anything touches the shroud or corrects any droop. (mostly Impact owners). Side rails can be added at no extra charge and I guarantee my work.

1st pic is a cad drawing for an Edgun RM3, next 3 pics are one mounting the Atlas bipod to my Impact.

Do you make these for sale? These may work on my Crown?

Testing out the accuracy of the new barrel support setups today @ 35 yards in the old backyard. Shot 3 ten shot groups with each airgun one at a time. That is 30 consecutive shots with each airgun. Any shots outside of the main group was a pull, felt it each time. Don’t you hate when you mess up a good group, but hey I’m just the average shooter. The point is to illustrate that these barrel supports aren’t affecting my accuracy negatively at all.
