Opinion needed...A USA based gun vs dragging current ones to & from USA

Okay, as I post and post I live in the Netherlands and this is a real first world problem. I have purchased two PCPs while living here, my Brocock Compatto Sniper XR in .177 and the coming FX Crown Continuum in .22 cal, but dragging them back and forth to USA from Europe might get complicated, and expensive. I figure it would cost around $200-$300 in luggage costs to take one gun, per trip. Twice per year....$400-$600. And with this approach I don’t have to deal with any customs coming or going, but not a huge deal as long as you have your paperwork in order. Though I REALLY want to try both my babies on pests and small game.

If their are any people who air travel with their PCPs please tell me your experience too.

The USA based gone would be used for hunting/pesting in either 22 or 25 caliber. And my nephew / bro-in law could use it so it just doesn’t sit.

I am thinking a Zboria, but in USA I don’t see the .25 caliber offered, and please give your thoughts on a maybe gun.

And yes, I know a real first world problem.

Krale ships a gun from the Netherlands to my door in 3 days. It's under $50 for shipping for a couple guns.

Many people have ordered a bunch of stuff from them.

Is this not something you could do yourself?

I'm not sure how the shipping back would go, maybe that's an issue.

Anyway, I don't know if that's any help. I'm too poor to go anywhere so no experience traveling via plane.

Hi

I have never traveled with airguns, but I have seen many sellers from Europe who ship to the United States, I think the easiest thing would be to make a shipment with an international company with an airgun shipping license. You will have the problem if you want to return these airguns to Europe due to the strict control of airguns in many European countries.

That is what my dutch shooting friends are telling me, the simplest but most expensive is to fly with the rifles. I show the dutch customs the guns and proof of purchase before I leave, the American Customs my return ticket, and so on when I go back no problem. However, I will check with an international shipper to see what hoops I have to jump through, and of course what it costs.

Thanks for the input guys.

I think it really depends on what you really want out of your experience. Do you want to klll/hunt critters with your guns, the ones you hold dear to your heart and have that be your experience? Or do you want it to be about the hunt, the experience of hunting, period, the thrill that only your memory and soul will know? Factor in cost and convince & there is your answer. When you are back home in Europe you can say, I hunted this or that in N. America with THIS gun, or you can just cherish the experience in your heart alone.

Yes, you are so true and it is one thing to see how a rifle does on the range and then another when it is in field with your stresses. When I mean “your stresses”, it is the shooter. The gun is always calm and collected, and it is the shooter who has different stresses and conditions they can’t influence when in the field vs the range. All of the former make the experience. I will see what happens, and lots going on right now so hard to make firm decisions.

Thanks for the inputs guys.
